SOUTH SIDE JAMAICA, QUEENS, NY.
January 1992.Deanna made her way off the subway to her mother's home in Queens. Her mother wanted to talk to her about something. She had a feeling it had something to with Nique. Deanna could never hide shit from Raq.
Unlocking the door, she opened it and walked inside. Taking her key out, she slipped her key ring back in her pocket. She shut the door behind her and walked in the kitchen.
She seen her mother standing by the window, walking inside the kitchen she laid her purse on the counter.
"Look figure that shit out Lou. I'm tired of cleaning up after you nigga." She hung up her Walkman. "Hey babygirl, I'm cooking your favorite." She pointed in the kitchen at the spaghetti cooking.
"Sup ma, you needed to talk to me about something?" She took her coat off and laid it on the seat.
"You been around Nique heavy?" Her mother raised her eyebrow.
"It's just business. Ain't shit else to it, why?" Deanna folded her arms knowing where this conversation was going.
"It ain't no damn business Deanna." Raq laid the pictures of them together on the balcony a couple months ago, on the counter. "Yall hugging up."
"You got niggas taking pictures of me?" Deanna raised her eyebrows feeling her face get red, "These pictures are two months old. That's weird as hell, admit it." She grabbed the pictures looking at her and Nique.
"I told him to stay the fuck away from you, he ain't gonna do shit but hurt your feelings. This is my rival, of course he's gonna try to get at me anyway he could." Raq hit her hand on the counter.
"I don't give a fuck. Why you got them taking pictures of me?" She looked at her mother.
"I'm trying to watch out for you Deanna. If I show your father this he would kill Nique." She smirked and shook her head.
"This ain't even about Nique for real. You invading my privacy. What I do and who I chose to do with it is my business. I'm grown Ma, I ain't a little girl no more. I got plenty sense." Deanna shook her head. "But this is crazy, then you wonder why I leave so much. You do shit like this."
"Stay away from that nigga. He's bad for you. I don't care if you're mad. You'll understand one day." Raq grabbed her Walkman turning around stirring her pots.
"I can't believe this shit." Deanna laughed to herself, "So since we invading each others space you told Kanan you had Lou knock off Dwiz?" Deanna shook her head.
"You did what ma?" Kanan came in the kitchen looking at his mother. "What the fuck?"
Deanna turned around in shock. She didn't know Kanan was entering the kitchen. Grabbing her items she sighed.
"I'm out, fuck this. You do anything to retain some kind of power over everyone. It's sick." She slipped on her coat. She hugged her brother.
"C'mon we out." He nodded and went to grab his things. Deanna slipped her coat back on and grabbed her purse. She walked out the house waiting for Kanan.
