When I woke up in the morning, it was already 9:00 am. I got up slowly from the bed and got into my soft slippers. I quietly made my way to the kitchen to not wake up Kai. As soon as I got there, I saw Kai sitting on the couch already up.

"Oh hey Kai, I thought you would sleep in," I said.

"Yeah I was going to, but I woke up like an hour ago, and so I didn't know what to do. So I just watched TV here for a while, waiting for you to wake up Percy." Kai said.

"Alright, well lemme grab a morning snack, and then we can go to the beach to surf!" I exclaimed.

I went into the Kitchen to eat some strawberry yogurt and toasted bread. It felt delicious, and I thought about how this day would go today. Would I fall for Kai even more or just do some friendly surfing with him?

As soon as I ate, I waved to Kai to go grab some swimwear. He didn't have much on him when he came from the gods to my apartment. I needed to find some perfect swim trunks for him. I searched through my drawer for anything that would fit him. He was smaller than me and had more muscle. I kinda let myself go these past few years. It felt a bit embarrassing to have such a muscular roommate. I hated how I looked right now.

"What about this one? It has sea shells and is green colored." I asked Kai.

"Nah, I don't like how it's kinda loose. Is there anything a bit smaller in there?" Kai said.

"What about this red-colored sea shell one?" I said.

"Lemme try it on Percy," Kai said.

Every time he said Percy, it made his heart warm up. He loved it when people said his name, it made him feel special. Kai took off the green colored trunks and walked out with red colored trunks from the bathroom. He looked immaculate in them, they seemed to be fit enough for him, even a bit tight.

"Yeah, these work Percy! I think I like this color as well. Thank you for giving me this one, if that's what you want?" Kai said.

"Yeah sure, you can have them, they look perfect on you Kai," I said.

"Let's go surfing!" Kai said as he pulled my hand up with him to go out of the bedroom.

"Hold on Kai, I haven't gotten dressed yet!" I exclaimed.

"Oh sorry Percy. I got a bit excited." Kai said.

The way he said it made my body warm, and a small blush crept up my face. I pushed the thoughts away and went back to the bedroom to change into these blue-colored sea shell trunks. All of my swimwear had something do to with sea shells, I thought. As soon as I walked out of the bedroom, Kai grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the door. We got our bags with things we were going to carry to the beach and went outside. He continued to hold my hand while we walked toward the car.

"Hey Kai, um are you gonna let go of my hand?" I said.

"OH Percy, sorry I just hate being alone," Kai said.

"It's alright Kai, I just don't want people noticing we are holding hands out here in public," I said.

As we neared my truck, the truck that Luke gave me as a gift all those years ago. It made me hurt looking at Kai, with his beautiful freckles, long blonde hair, and ocean-blue eyes, get into the car that his dead brother gave him. I sighed and got into the driver's seat. We drove quietly toward the ocean. It smelled so salty and bitter, but I longed to surf on the waves. It would ease my mind, I thought. As I peeked over at what Kai was doing, he just had his eyes closed and was listening to music on his earphones. I didn't want to bother him, so I continued to drive and look onward toward the ocean. Then I felt a hand reach out and grab my arm.

"Can we hold hands now Percy?" Kai quietly said.

I thought for a moment, what do I say to not sound weird? I started to swell up with tears as I thought about how much he looked like Luke and how sweet he was when he spoke. I almost broke down right there, as I was driving.

"Yes, Kai here" I very silently said. I held my hand out and brushed against his hand to hold it. As the contact happened, it sent me pleasuring energy through my body. I felt safe with him, he was the friend I was looking for. For a moment, I thought about why Hermes sent him to me, and now it made sense. He sent this kid to help me through my tough time in life.

As we were driving up onto the beach, I stopped the car and broke our hands holding. He took out his AirPods and whimpered a little as he was surprised.

"We made it to the beach Kai. Let's go get our surfboards from the trunk." I said.

"Sure, I want the bigger one though!" he excitedly said.

I wanted the same kind of energy he was giving off. We grabbed our surfboards and strolled through the sand toward the ocean. The ocean smelled so salty, it felt good. The sun was shining brightly through the clouds that had appeared. I tried to make the ways appear bigger with my powers. It worked slightly as they got taller and slammed more against the ocean.

"See you later, Percy! It's time for me to conquer the ocean!" Kai yelled.

I laughed at the tone he spoke from. He splashed into the water and rode his surfboard toward the big waves. I watched as the waves splashed and swept him off in a few minutes. His blond hair shone brightly against the sun, and I imagined I thought I could see Luke's face. I suddenly got a bit sad at that thought. I tried to brush it off and rode into the ocean myself. It felt so good to ride the waves under my control. I liked the impact of the water as it made it against my skin and got swept off a few times as well. The ocean felt cool and nice against my skin. I wondered what Annabeth would think of this moment. Two ocean-loving guys riding the waves on their surfboards and having happy times.

As I continued to surf, I saw someone approach Kai. He went underwater as the guy pulled him up and dragged him over the beach. I was so livid that I made the ocean slam against the beach but to no avail as the guy continued to drag Kai toward his car. Kai cried out for help and I heard it. I hurried over to the beach and slammed my fists right across the back of the guy's head. He spun around and punched me back. I wasn't having this and hit his nose with all my might. It broke and blood sprayed everywhere. The guy tried to pull something out of his pocket, that looked like a gun. I quickly hit my leg against his hands but I was too late. He tried to shoot Kai who was lying on the ground and one bullet rang out. It hit Kai's shoulder and he yelped in pain. I was finally done with this idiot, I punched him across the face until he was bleeding everywhere. I quickly got off of him and went to Kai. I picked Kai up with my hands and swung him around my back. I carried him to my truck and put him down in the seat. He was almost unconscious so I took him to the hospital as quickly as I could. As soon as I pulled up to the hospital's front door, I got out and carried Kai to the best of my ability inside. The doctors got him and started getting the bullet out while I sat out here. I tried my best to not feel anything, but I was silently crying inside. Who the fuck would try to kidnap Kai in broad daylight? What kind of sick people were these?

Hours had passed before the doctors came out and gave their assessment. He was stable but was still unconscious. He lost a lot of blood so they were going to try to replace his blood. I continued to wait and wait for him to wake up. It was a good 5 hours before he finally woke up. I sprinted toward his bed and said,

"Hey Kai, how are you feeling?"

He just groggily shook his head as an I'm okay. I pulled his hand into my embrace. I slightly planted a kiss on his hand and said, "Everything is going to be alright Kai, please get better".
