Percy Jackson's day at Camp Half-Blood began like any other. A year had passed since the intense battle with Gaia, and tranquility had settled over the camp. As he rose from his slumber, Percy expected to find his girlfriend, Annabeth Chase, by his side, but she was conspicuously absent. He rationalized her absence, assuming she had ventured to Olympus for some architectural responsibilities alongside her mother. However, as Percy stepped outside his cabin, an eerie silence greeted him, unusual for a late riser like himself.

Will Solace hurried over to Percy, his expression filled with concern. "Percy, I've searched the entire camp, and something's not right. The Iris message isn't working either," he exclaimed. Percy furrowed his brow, puzzled. "Are you certain? It's the weekend; most campers would be sleeping in unless they're summoned to Olympus or have divine tasks," he replied. Will shook his head. "I've checked every cabin except Ares and Demeter," he confirmed.

With a sense of urgency, Percy accompanied Will to the Demeter cabin, where they found only one bewildered camper, Katie. "Katie, are you the only one here?" Will inquired. "Yeah, I've been looking for everyone else," she replied. "Grab your weapon; we're heading to the Ares cabin before going to Olympus for answers," Percy directed. Katie nodded and retrieved a small short sword from her cabin.

They proceeded to the Ares cabin, cautiously scanning the battleground area twice before approaching Clarisse. Katie approached her with haste. "Do you know where everyone is?" she asked. Clarisse shook her head in confusion. Will interjected, "We've checked the entire camp, including Mr. D and Chiron. There's no one." Determined, Percy made the decision: "To Olympus, we go."

As Percy, Will, Katie, and Clarisse ventured into Olympus, an unsettling emptiness engulfed the city of the gods. There was no one to be seen except for the arrogantly self-absorbed Hercules.

Seeking answers, Will queried, "Where is everyone?" Hercules responded dismissively, "How should I know?" Ignoring him, the group proceeded to the throne room, where they encountered the Fates awaiting them. Percy couldn't help but express his frustration, "We barely survived a war just a year ago. What's going on? We can't handle another crisis."

The Fates delivered the chilling revelation: "Your friends and family are gone." A heavy silence settled over the room. Katie blurted out, "What?" Clarisse demanded, "What happened?" The Fates explained solemnly, "We don't know. Their presence and threads have vanished without a trace. It's as if they never existed."

Percy inquired of the Fates, "How many have not vanished?" The Fates responded solemnly, "You four, Hercules, Triton, along with most nature spirits and monsters. However out of gods, goddesses, and demigods—only you four and the two gods remain."

Expressing their regret, the Fates proceeded with their next announcement. "You must now assume duties to restore order," they declared. Clarisse erupted in anger, "Our family is gone, and you want us to serve you?" The Fates, sounding genuinely apologetic, explained, "Yes, with the world in disarray, we need to fill the roles of the missing gods and goddesses with nature spirits and yourselves."

With a flash, the Fates informed Hercules and Triton of their family's disappearance. Then, they turned to the four demigods. "Will Solace, you shall inherit your father's domains," the Fates declared. "Clarisse La Rue, you will take over your father's domain and become the new God of War," they continued. "Katie Gardner, as a child of Demeter, you will not take her domains. Instead, you will assume the domains of Persephone and become the new goddess of spring," the Fates decreed. Lastly, they addressed Percy Jackson, "Since your father's domain is already claimed, you will ascend as the god of the underworld, inheriting Hades' domains. Given the weight of this responsibility, you are the only one we trust with such a stressful role. Hercules and Triton still take the roles of there fathers."

The revelation left everyone stunned. But what followed was even more shocking. "As Persephone and Hades were wed, Katie and Percy are now bound in marriage," the Fates declared before vanishing, leaving behind a note scheduling monthly meetings until stability is restored.

With their assigned roles established, they dispersed to their respective domains. Hercules remained on Olympus, Triton returned to Atlantis, and Will headed to the Apollo hospital. Clarisse settled into the Ares temple, while Percy and Katie ventured to the underworld to take up their new positions as its rulers.

In the familiar but unfamiliar environment of the underworld, Percy and Katie grappled with their newfound status as a married couple and monarchs. Percy broke the silence, offering reassurance to Katie, "Let's make the best of this. And don't worry, I won't do anything you're not comfortable with, not until you're ready." Katie, acknowledging Percy's character, responded, "Percy, I wasn't concerned about that. I trust you. It's just... I never imagined living in the underworld or getting married. But at least I'm with you. That's something I can count on."

They retired for the night, Percy to the master bedroom and Katie to one of the guest rooms. Tomorrow marked the beginning of their new responsibilities, spanning the realms of the Greek and Roman worlds.
