In the morning, Percy and Katie both found themselves in the kitchen of the underworld palace. Surprisingly, they had both slept well, despite the events of the previous day weighing on their minds. Katie broke the silence, asking Percy, "How do you plan to approach your duties as king today?" Percy shrugged, replying, "I suppose I'll figure it out once I'm briefed on today's tasks." "Fair enough," Katie acknowledged.
Curious, Percy inquired about Katie's responsibilities as queen. She explained, "Aside from making joint decisions as king and queen, I'll likely spend most of my time tending to Persephone's garden." Percy nodded in understanding, and they parted ways to attend to their respective duties within the palace.
Katie immersed herself in the garden, tending to its needs, while Percy settled into Hades' office. Much to his dismay, his first task of the day involved a mountain of paperwork.
The most challenging aspect was having to document the absence of each missing god, goddess, and demigod, officially recording their presumed deaths.
As the day progressed, Percy couldn't help but sympathize with Hades' demeanor. The sheer volume of work he faced made him understand why Hades might seem melancholic. Receiving a note indicating that he had completed his tasks for the day, Percy realized that the Fates were gradually easing him into his numerous responsibilities. Tomorrow promised a new set of challenges.
With the workday behind him, Percy settled onto the couch, initially unaware that Katie was also seeking solace there. When he realized, he instinctively moved away. "Sorry about that," Percy apologized. Katie reassured him, "It's okay, Percy. You've had a tough day. Feel free to lean on me for comfort." Percy nodded gratefully, allowing himself to relax against Katie as they watched TV together.
