JUDE GRACE

Utter chaos.

That's how I would describe my life.

Since Calista disappeared everyone's been on edge.

It quickly spread around the pack that someone was taken, and they keep saying who will they take next.

There's been a mandatory curfew set at sundown unless it's a full moon where we do pack runs.

My mom has been hysterical. Calista's the oldest. Then Parker, then me.

Parker hasn't said much but I know this is crushing him. It's crushing us all.

My wolf, Vivian, whines at the thought of our sister. We were closer to her then anyone. She was the person we confided in and spent our time with.

The void where Calista should be is weighing me down.

Then there's the drama with the uppers. Well, most importantly the heir.

Rhett.

He's lashing out at anyone and everyone he can. I guess he's worried about the wellbeing of his pack, but I don't think that's a reason to treat that same pack terribly because of it.

I open my bedroom door at the sound of sobbing.

I walk towards the direction of the noise to find it coming from my parents' bedroom.

My mothers sitting on the floor with her back against her bed, her hands are covering her face, but the sounds of her sobbing make my wolf whine.

I open the door wider and step in, walking to my mom and sitting beside her before pulling her body into mine as an act of comfort.

"Mom..."I try to sooth.

"My baby... she's gone... *sob*... what if I never see her again?" she says through breaths and tears.

I don't know what to say to her because we have the same fears.

I say nothing as I hold her with silent tears falling down my own face.

"You want me to what?" I ask, Megan, one of the wolves in this pack.

Megan sighs and runs her hand over her blonde curly hair. "I want you to run two laps, then do ten sit-ups, ten pull-ups, ten jumping jacks, ten high knees, then run three more laps." she says as if that list isn't actually insane.

"That's a lot." I tell her, pursing my lips.

"I know but it's just to see where you stand on training. So, we can see what we need to train you on."

"Everything. I need to train everything."

"Then this is a good head start." she says with a grin.

I smile at her and walk over to the track.

"Ready? Go!" Megan shouts.

I run for what feels like eternity before she says stop.

I do the sit-ups, pull-ups, jumping jacks, high knees, then three more laps.

"Not bad, but not good." Megan says, frowning at a clipboard in her hand.

"What?" I ask her suddenly self-conscious.

"Nothing." she says and walks off towards the pack building, without another word.

Then I'm alone and my family crosses my mind.

I want to go home.

"We have to get strong to protect them." Maeve tells me.

Right. Protect them.

That's what everyone keeps saying when I bring up my family.

You need to train to get stronger... for your family.

It's a load of bullshit if you ask me. But somethings keeping me here.

Maybe I don't want to go back to the place that treated me terribly for being who I am.

I sigh and walk in the direction Megan just went. I'm hungry.
