(TEN MONTHS AGO)
I ONCE heard you do not find love.
Love finds you.
And something about Destiny. How it makes it all happen and it
planned to play its game on them,
again.A Girl who does not know what love is and a man who wants to
love and a meet bound to end in a hospital, lose each other
once again and maybe themselves too.The boy changed forever and the girl, she was traumatized.
This arrangement was never meant to be normal, either to be
the most power couple ever was or meet their doom, early.
What would it be for them? Would they thrive or return to ashes
when everything around them catches fire."Don't worry, Uncle. I will be there."
"I know it's late and I am sorry, okay I am sorry but I forgot the
time.""Yup, I will get home as soon as I can."
"Okay, just come fast."
"Ji" I kept the phone down, releasing a sign. It's tiring to calm
my family down when I am already running late then the decided
time."Uncle, a bit fast please? My family’s worried about my
whereabouts.""Ji, but they are right, gudiya. You should not be out this late. It
was a miracle I found you, what would have happened if it was a
bad guy?""Sorry. I will remember next time." I say looking down. It's not
exactly my fault I was reading books in the library of my new
University."Don't be sad, gudiya but you need to understand what we are
saying is for your own good, for our future generations.""I got you, uncle. I will remember next time, promise."
We were talking when it started raining hail and shower from
time to time changing its course speed. My hand peeks out of the auto as rain drops kisses my fingertips and palm skin makes
me giggle. I once heard from my brother that if it rains shower it's
auspicious but if it rains heavily it's inauspicious. The auto
stopped with a halt making me lose my balance and shoot
forward."What's wrong?"
"Stay in gudiya, let me see through this. Don’t get out of the
auto."
I look past driver uncle as Goosebumps erupt over my skin as I watch fire waves clash higher up dissolving with the December
craze fog.A foggy scene took over my mind, corrupting my senses. Blood, black fog escaping the crushed hood of the car where it
crashed into truck, dead grey eyes stare back at me as a
blooded hand reaches for my knee.It all bleeds my nerves and crashing my senses turning every
moment slow, my senses flooding with dark calmness and a
motion of slow occurring.A sudden loud snap from my surroundings had me flinching,
returning back from my dark memories. I tried to look past the dark surroundings, I did not find the driver Uncle and step out of the auto when I was told not to, walking towards the erupting fireplace. The air feel chills erupting Goosebumps over my skin. I rub my skin as I take slow steps one after the other looking around with a suspension of its own in the chilly air.
It's dark and I cannot see past fog layering over the mirror of
my glasses as I walk closer to the driver uncle kneeling down
and look past him. My body freezing as I notice a man covered in blood lying in the middle of the road came across me in my peripheral view, his car high
on gasoline catching fire breezes reaching higher mixing with
the atmosphere. If not for his shallow breaths, fluttering eyes and rising chest
one could have easily thought he was dead. I force down the
images of the past trying to rise up and create havoc flooding my
being into panic.I need to help this man. I cannot let what happened to me to
someone else and to a family unaware of the danger their one of the family members currently is in right now.
The driver uncle looked up from the lying man, "Gudiya, I told
you to stay inside.”
Kneeling by his side I pat the man's cheek, trying to wake him
up, maybe a reaction that he is alright or just a voice of pain, just
a small sign maybe.
Please!
The man groaned in pain, his eyelids fluttering open for a
second as they shut back down.
"Help me with this young man. I cannot carry him alone to the
auto." the driver Uncle says, old in his age. Holding him by his
shoulder and lifting his body as I support his other side.Dark chocolate cologne with male taste hits my nostrils. With
quite a good height and weight over me it was hard to walk- drag
him to the auto. His head hit the auto soft edge corner as he groans in
response. His height big enough to not accommodate the auto with his sleeping form. I slip to where his head once hit the spot,
lifting his head and replacing it with my lap.
"Hey, we will get to the hospital soon. Hang on with us,
please." His eyes flutter open as they crash with mine taking my
breath away. His dark grey orbs so mesmerizing but with a hint of pain and sadness in them making them shine more.
His face a work of art and fiction, just like fantasies taste. Grey
orbs, sharp jawline, and eyebrows girls’ dream of, nose a bit out
of place but cute and soft thick lips covered in blood.
"Just...hang on, please."
I talk trying to get a response from him but I could not. He was
not reacting, making my eyes tear up. But I did not stop.I talked about everything I could everything I know was absurd
but maybe something would catch his attention and I would get
a reaction and hang on the little thread called life.
A tear slides down my cheeks thinking why fate would do such
a painful thing to a person and his loved ones. But I am determined too, I am not going to let some parents somewhere unknown to their son's life suffer the loss of a precious person who is their son chosen by the same fate.
Paramedics ran out to help us carry the man to the stretcher
and the ICU room. And I stood frozen watching as the red lights
with emergency written over it flicker on at the top of the closer
door._______
