It Would Be Weird

After Park Haesoo drove her home, he waited for her to go into the building before taking his own leave.

Lee Jennie walked into her apartment and flicked the light switch on. She tied up her long hair into a messy bun and decided to take a shower before going to sleep. Just as she was about to take off her clothes, she had noticed that she was still wearing the suit jacket that Park Haesoo had offered her.

She took it off, neatly folded it, and placed it on the couch so that she would not forget to have it dry-cleaned before returning it back to him.

After showering, she tiredly collapsed onto her bed. She let out a content sigh upon feeling the soft mattress underneath her. While her bed was still comfortable, a certain warmth seemed to be missing from her room tonight and she had to adjust the temperature to make it warmer...

Slipping under the blanket, she was reminded of how well she slept when Kim Taehyung was around.

After a while, she decided not to dwell on those thoughts as she needed to sleep for her eventful day tomorrow. She would be delivering her present to resume the gift war that had been in hiatus.

The next morning, she woke up bright and early to send the manila envelope filled with evidence through the post office. But she found an unpleasant surprise for her there.

A 'Closed' sign was hanging on the door due to an internal event. She couldn't help but angrily rant under her breath about her horrible luck. Of all the days for them to take a break in operations, it just had to be today!

She groaned in annoyance and stomped her way to the sidewalk to hail down a cab. Just great, she had set multiple alarms just to get here early and it was all for nothing!

Suddenly she thought of a simple but foolish plan.

What if, just what if, she hand-delivered this to him in person...?

She wondered if it would be weird to directly stroll into the Kim Enterprise building to deliver something to their CEO.

She had previously gotten someone to deliver her presents straight to his office by shamelessly using Kim Lisa's connections. However, she didn't want Lali to get any more absurd ideas by asking for her help again.

A definite voice in the back of her mind was quick to speak up and reprimand her for being so dumb. "Yes, idiot. It would be weird." She said to herself, blaming her delirious thoughts on the fact that she hadn't had breakfast yet.

After a few seconds of walking back and forth while deciding on what she should do next, she made up her mind to just go and see him. The post office was very close to Kim Enterprise. As a matter of fact, it was only a short twenty-minute walk.

As she began walking towards his building, she wondered how she could get the envelope delivered to him. It's not like she could stroll to the front desk and ask for it to be personally delivered to him. She didn't have an appointment or an actual relationship with the CEO. What could a simple woman like her do to even see him?

She knew the receptionist would never let her step a foot beyond the lobby without a scheduled meeting or a proper reason. She could already imagine their bewildered expression and the possibility of his security to escort her out if she walked up to the reception and said "Oh yeah, I'm just a random woman here to deliver this envelope to your great and benevolent boss that you've probably never talked to. And uh, can I, a random stranger with no proper appointment or rank, have the private elevator key card to see him please?"

She rolled her eyes at how dumb that would sound. If she was the receptionist, she would've called security on herself.

A part of her knew she could call him but that would ruin the surprise. But a small part of her was terrified that he would ignore her if she called him. What if he was still angry at her?

While she argued with herself, she had unknowingly walked straight into the front entrance of the impressive Kim Enterprise building. It was really impressive.

There was an abstract water fountain in the front and a well-designed landscape that welcomes people to the sky-high headquarter of Kim Enterprise. With the bright morning sun shining gloriously upon the glass skyscraper, this place eluded a magnificent aura that rivaled a castle rather than an office.

Breathing in deeply, Lee Jennie remind herself that she had been trained to appear strong and confident as if she had every right to be here.

'Fake it, until you make it.' She thought to herself, squaring her shoulders back and raising her chin to look like the arrogant woman that she was.

Holding the limited edition black purse that he had bought for her, she walked inside with her head high.

Since she wasn't planning on seeing him in person or actually making the trip to his office building, she had been dressed in her usual outfit while running errands. She had left her hair loose and unstyled, her face bare, and worn an off-shoulder top paired with fitted ripped jeans.

She knew her casual appearance was not the best outfit for such an uptight and rigid setting like Kim Enterprise. Her thoughts were confirmed when she walked into the building and stood out like a sore thumb amongst the men and women dressed to the nines. Men in full suits walked around, while women wore blazer, pencil skirts and dress pants that matched, with their hair in a tidy updo.

In contrast to them, Lee Jennie's casual elegance in a sea of business attires garnered attention. Ignoring the curious and judgmental stares she was receiving, she walked up to the front desk.

"Good morning, ma'am. How can we help you?" One of the receptionists politely spoke up. She was taught by her company to not judge a person by their appearance. With a company as prosperous as Kim Enterprise, you never know which of the guests were influential. With her experience, she also knew that even disheveled clothes would never be able to hide a person's incredible aura. This casually dressed woman seemed to fit that example very well.

Even though Lee Jennie's appearance was street casual, her purse most certainly wasn't. The receptionist's hawk-like eyes had quickly recognized the limited edition CH purse that even wealthy women would die to get their hands on.

"This is going to be a really weird question but is there any way you guys can deliver this to CEO Kim?" Lee Jennie decided to take a leap of faith and bluntly stated her purpose. She showed the receptionists the flat and harmless envelope in her hand.

"I apologize, ma'am, but that is beyond my capabilities." The receptionist gently said, keeping her voice polite and airy.

Lee Jennie was pleasantly surprised by the woman's good work ethic. It seemed the people working in this company were all well-trained and capable, as expected of Kim Taehyung. His company was one of the most sought out places to work for by employees due to their great benefits and generous salary range. Working here could be said to be a dream come true, hence, the hiring process is also quite competitive.

"Mm, then can I speak with someone who can get it delivered?"

"I'm afraid that is not possible due to our company's security protocol." The receptionist replied, remaining as firm as ever.

No matter what a person said or bribed her with, she was taught by her manager to never waver. Besides, it wasn't like she had the power to be in direct contact with their big boss or anyone in else in his team. At most, she would only see him from the distance whenever he enters and exits the building.
