Beatrix jumped at the sudden sound of knocking on her door, jumping up to open it. "Oh- Luther, you made it." She looked down at the tired officer. "Do come in, I made some coffee."
"Yeah, yeah...", He mumbled, taking a seat as Beatrix grabbed the cups for the two of them. He was handed his cup, and took a sip, before glancing over at Beatrix. "Okay. I want you to be straight with me here. What the fuck did you mean 'more officers'? Did you EXPECT me to die? Were those REALLY animal attacks on my co-workers? You best have a DAMN good explanation." He waved his free hand around angrily. He was fed up with this new behavior from his boss. Not just his boss- but a friend to him too. Yet she seemed like a COMPLETELY different person. Beatrix kept a calm smile as she drank from her cup. "Okay... I'll tell you.. But it has to stay between me and you."Luther frowned at this. He knew he would NOT be able to promise that, but he played along and nodded anyway. Beatrix took another sip of her coffee before continuing. "Yes, yes, there were other officers who have... passed. While I wasn't expecting, nor hoping you would, I was concerned..." She said this rather dismissively, jumping a bit as Luther raised his voice again. "You're avoiding my question, Bea. HOW THE HELL DID THEY DIE- YOU HAVEN'T EVEN LET PEOPLE KNOW WHERE THE BODIES ARE FOR FUCKS SAKE.", Luther shouted out. He was a bit surprised at his own outburst, but he wouldn't let that be seen on his face.
"They... died to mysterious causes, Luther... One moment they were right behind us, and the next, we circled around and found the bodies. Which is when we fled the scene. There were no signs of strangulation, poisoning, gunshots, stabs, nothing. The only odd thing is that they were smiling when they died.", Beatrix said this pretty blandly, as if this was a normal thing. This made Luther really angry, but at least he was getting answers now.
"And the weirdest thing," She continued, "Is that I know I was meant to get out of there. There was the most peculiar sense of joy, Luther- There was a piece of cake left at my bedside table."
Luther stared at Beatrix. "A piece of goddamn CAKE makes you believe you're suddenly immune to- Hell- I don't know- some fucked up serial killer? Whatever the hell we're dealing with?",
He clenched his fists angrily, despite knowing Beatrix could definitely overpower him in a fight. He wanted to speak up- I mean- who wouldn't? This was fucking ridiculous."The guy who started all this- the one who won't come see us for questioning? I'm starting to th-," She began before getting cut off by Luther, who set his cup down rather harshly. "That what? Alexander's batshit insane logic is the thing to go off of? He's gone MENTAL. And so are YOU, GODDAMNIT!" Before Beatrix could even open her mouth, Luther up and left, slamming the door behind him.
She'd have to go about this in a different way.
