All men are not created equal. That is a lesson Izuku Midoriya learned at the ripe old age of four when he was declared quirkless. But he refused to give up on his dream of being a hero. At first he had no idea how to go about doing that, but then he got inspiration from a hero he found called Eraserhead. He was an underground hero, so not a lot was known about him, but Izuku managed to dig up a few basics with hard work. His quirk was simple, being the ability to cancel our quirks. But it was the way he fought that inspired Izuku. Without any physically enhanced traits, he had to fight like he was quirkless, doubly so when his opponent had a mutation quirk. And that's when it hit him. If Izuku couldn't have the raw power necessary to be a hero, then he would rely on his technique. All he needed was an instructor.
That turned out to be easier said than done, as no one wanted to take him as a student after they found out he was quirkless. There was never an actual logical reason, they just thought he was beneath them. After another day of not being accepted by so much as a kids self defense class, Izuku sat down with a sigh in a nearby playground. "Well what's got you so down?" Izuku looks up and sees a large man with white hair in a business suit.
Izuku knew he shouldn't talk to strangers, but his mom was really close by and he could scream for help. "I wanna be a hero, so I want to learn how to fight, but no one will teach me."
"Really? I would think that dozens of people would be jumping at the chance to train an aspiring hero."
Izuku looks down at his shoes. "It's because I'm quirkless."
Izumi expected for the man to be disgusted, but despite his track record, he was pleasantly surprised. "So?"Izuku's head shoots up fast enough to cause motion blur. "People say I can't be a hero and that I'm useless because I don't have a quirk. They even call me Deku."
The unknown man hums. "Tell you what, point out your mom and I'll see if I can set you up with a guy I know. He owes me a favor." Izuku had lessons scheduled the week after that. When it was time for Izuku's first ever lesson, his mom dropped him off at the dojo the nice man recommended. It was a little out of the way, but it didn't clash with school or his moms work schedules, so it worked out nice enough. Entering, the setting and decor were as traditionally Japanese as they could physically be. There was a man in a simple white gi and black belt at the front of the room, wearing a white mask similar to an oni. It gave the man an imposing aura, but Izuku swallowed his fear almost audibly and approached him.
At the sight of Izuku, the man's eyes narrow behind his mask, and he speaks. "Name?"
"I-Izuku Midoriya?"
The man stomps his foot down, making Izuku jump. "I'll ask again. Name?!"
"Izuku Midoriya!"
The man nods. "Better. Fear and hesitation have no places in my dojo. Now, gasshō no kamae!" Izuku immediately takes the stance, both feet firmly planted and facing forward with both hands together in front of him while his eyes lock onto his teacher. The teacher raises an eyebrow behind the mask, not expecting the child to catch on so quickly. "Hmph. Impressive. At least you had the thought to learn before thinking of being taught. My name is Oroku Saki, but from this day forth you will call me sensei."
"Yes sensei!"
