After beating Bakugo down and collecting his things, Izuku felt that satisfied feeling again. Looking back at the school where Bakugo lay unconscious, he can't help but think to himself. 'Is this what dishing out karma feels like?'
On his way home, Izuku inspects the burn scars on his hand. The heated metal of the Shredder gauntlet he used to try and save his sensei had burned the shape of the metal framing onto his hand and wrist. A reminder of Endeavor's failure. "Excuse me, young man." Looking up from his thoughts, Izuku sees a guy made of black and purple smoke wearing a fancy vest. "Are you Izuku Midoriya?"
Shifting his foot back to assume a semi ready battle stance, Izuku fixes the smoky guy with a stern look. "Who's asking?"
"My employer."In a nearby alley, Izuku is still on guard while the smoky guy, now named Kurogiri, pulls out a tablet with the silhouette of a person on it, a familiar voice coming from the device. "Izuku, it's been too long."
Eyes widening, Izuku knows who it is. "Mr Shigaraki?""Indeed. How have you been? I heard about the... unfortunate accident involving Endeavor. Terrible things, negligent heroes. All the status and power that comes with the position and none of the real responsibility."
Eyes downturned and foggy, Izuku nods. "Yeah." Shaking his head, Izuku does his best to clear his mind. "What exactly is this about? Why did you find me? Why send this guy instead of coming yourself?"
Mr Shigaraki sigh. "Unfortunately, Saki isn't the only one of us who's had bad run-ins with heroes. I myself have sustained a few injuries that keep me home. Really shakes your faith in heroes, doesn't it?"
Looking at his scarred hand, Izuku scowls. "Yeah. It does." He looks back at the tablet. "But you still haven't answered my other questions."Mr Shigaraki chuckles. "Sharp as ever. I was hoping to extend an offer to you. You have certain... skills that can prove to be invaluable in the days to come. But, perhaps this is something that should be discussed in person?"
Izuku wanted to refuse, but his sensei taught him that opportunity only ever comes second to honor. "Alright."Stepping through the warp gate, Izuku finds himself in a dark room with the only light illuminating a man wearing a business suit sitting in a chair with various wires connected to a mask he was wearing. "That bad huh?"
Mr Shigaraki nods. "Indeed. Now then, shall we discuss terms?"
Sitting in a chair across from the man, Izuku nods. "Alright. What do you want, and what do you have that you think I might want?"
"Karma, retribution, revenge, whatever you wish to call it, is something I have the opportunity to provide for you."Leaning forward, Izuku ignores any red flags in favor of focusing on the promise of vengeance. "Keep talking."
Smiling, Mr Shigaraki obliges. "I have resources, connections. All I would need to do is make a phone call or two and you will have everything you need or want. You will be able to destroy every single hero who thinks they are above the common people. Above YOU. But in return, I ask that you let me make use of your skills. Do we have a deal?" He should probably say no, because there had been so many red flags during this conversation.
And yet, he didn't. "Deal."After being sent home via portal, Izuku sent them his sketch for an outfit and the Kuro Kabuto to be altered and used as a base. After that, his mind was reeling with possibilities. He was going to kill Endeavor. But not before he had suffered. First, he had to lose everything he cared about. He looks at the dart board hanging from a wall in his room, and he tears a picture of Endeavor from a newspaper and pins it to the board, then proceeds to throw a pen with enough force and precision to embed it in the photograph's forehead.
