It had been a month or two since Quickshadow had first offered to help Heatwave. Her routine had changed drastically since – the work she had to do took up most, if not all of her time. She would return to Heatwave's office sometime over the weekend to give him the weeks' worth of documents and ask for the next one. The femme had noticed how the mech seemed a bit more like himself when she did see him.

So here she was again, walking to his office with the next full binder of datapads. Again, useless reports and essays for the academy.

She'd reached the door to his office without remembering how she'd gotten there, and completely forgot to knock.

"Heatwave, I have this week's completed work, do you have the next binder ready fo-" She looked up from her full servos. The red mech had his faceplate down on his desk, arms crossed around it. He had fallen into a recharge.

The femme sighed and rolled her optics smiling, glad that he was at least getting rest. She lightly set the completed binder down on his desk and found next week's in a bin on one of the shelves behind him. She caught a glimpse of his monitor screen while doing so – he had been in the process of sending a holo-message to someone.

For Heatwave's privacy, she didn't read the message (it was incomplete anyway), but she recognized Optimus's name in it a few times.

The white femme walked out of his office, but not before looking back over her shoulder pads at his sleeping frame again. She wrote him a small note before she left.

>Heatwave,

You were in recharge when I came to give you the finished files for the past week. I know you would've said contrary, but I decided to let you stay in said state. This week's files are completed on your desk. I managed to find next week's before departing your office.

Regards,
Quickshadow<

>The next day<

Quickshadow was in the energon reserves room the next morning, drinking her cube of low-grade, when she got a new holo-message. She opened the mini monitor programmed into her left gauntlet to read it.

>Quickshadow,

Your assistance over the last weeks has been greatly appreciated. I am aware my uncooperative actions and personality in the past and present have not made my company any easier.

Optimus has requested I choose a Vice Head for the Academy before further preparations are made. I was planning to discuss this matter with you yesterday afternoon, however a holo-message will have to do.

Would you be up to the job of Vice Head of the Academy? Please make me aware of your decision as soon as possible.

Regards,
Heatwave<

Quickshadow opened a private messaging line with the red leader to better discuss the matter.

>Heatwave.<

>Quickshadow.<

>What is this sudden job offering?<

>Don't ask me. I guess Optimus was under the impression that I needed assistance.<

>Funny, I don't recall you saying you needed anything of me.<

There was a bit longer of a pause before Heatwave answered.

>See, this is the downside of not talking faceplate to faceplate – I honestly couldn't tell whether you were being sarcastic or not.<

>Was, but yes, I couldn't see you extending an invitation to anybot to help you lead without Optimus giving direct orders to.<

>Agreed.<

>So?<

>So what?<

>Do you accept the position?<

The femme hadn't actually put too much serious thought into that part. She contemplated her answer a bit before responding.

>Yes.<

>Very well, I will have Boulder see if he can do anything about that closed off hallway section facing the courtyard.<

>Why so?<

>We would have to share another office room. I was thinking about moving my current things to that room anyway. It's by far bigger than the other rooms. Cody would also have a smaller desk in there as well, as he does represent the human branch of the Academy.<

Quickshadow hadn't thought of that.

>Understood. Speaking of said, I should go drop off him and Frankie at their school. Will return shortly after. Regards.<

>Regards.<
