It's been a bit in-story since last chapter. Cody & Frankie are done with school for the year. The Burns & Greene families usually go on their own separate family road trips (on the mainland). This year, they decided to combine them and go on a camping/road trip, and they figured they'd ask the bots too, cuz why not, it's already a full party.

Someone knocked on Heatwave's office door (not the shared office, his personal office). Again. He groaned and got up from behind his desk to open it.

If it's Blades for the 200th time today so that he can yap on about his TV shows to somebot I swe-

"Heatwave! Down here!" Cody jumped up when the firebot opened the Cybertronian-size door for him, waving to get the mech's attention.

"Oh, hey Cody," Heatwave half-forced a grin he hoped looked convincing onto his faceplate, kneeling down so he could hear the little human. "you need something?"

"We're going on our usual summer road trip with Doc & Frankie this year, and we were wondering if you bots would want to join this time around? Although all the other bots said no, so you'd probably be the only one going. It's about a week worth of driving to a campsite, staying there for a few nights, and then another week driving back. There's gonna be shooting stars!"

He contemplated this for a minute. Sure, two weeks give or take a few days was a lot of work he could be getting done, but it would also give him an excuse to not do work. And if he was guaranteed to be the only one going, that meant he could get a solid break from the other bots. (Granted, he would still have to deal with Kade, but Blades & Blurr combined were worse.)

At the moment, Heatwave mainly wanted to avoid Quickshadow, because he wasn't sure he could handle talking to her after their last interaction.

And Cody always talked about how much he loved shooting stars. They sounded beautiful.

"Sure, Cody, I'll go."

The boy beamed at the mech & then gave him the biggest hug he could given their size difference. "Yay! I'll go tell dad. Thanks, Heatwave."

And Cody turned and ran down the hall, leaving Heatwave to go back to his work.

"Quickshadow! Hey! Can you open the door?"

The femme looked up from the datapad she was reading to the knocking (& yelling) at her office door. She stood up & opened the door for Dani.

"Morning, Dani, do you need something?"

"Yeah, so every year our family goes on a road trip over the summer, and this year we're going with Doc Greene & Frankie. Dad said we could ask you bots if you wanted to go, but all the others said no."

"How long is it?"

"Two or three weeks."

That was a long time to be away from the Academy at once. She could still work on the screen attached to her gauntlet, though. And if none of the other bots were going, it would be a nice break.

"Sure."

Dani smiled. "Alright, thanks, I'll go tell dad."

And the girl walked down the halls in the direction of the groundbridge.
