Alright, so we need a bit of context for this Chapter – Heatwave is aware that Quickshadow was an undercover agent, all of the team is. Key word: was. After her main assignment being changed to helping the bots out with the Academy, the whole team kind of assumed she stopped doing undercover solo work.
The femme still does get regular missions from Optimus, however, and has just assumed everyone else knows/assumes that's what she takes frequent ground bridges for, why she sometimes has her comm on silent for hours on end, etc.
Points of view:
3rd person Heatwave
3rd person Quickshadow
We're gonna just skip between them for a bit this chapter, so I wanted to make their text different, hopefully that helps
Thunk. Thunk.
The femme tried to keep her pedesteps as quiet as possible, but such had been proving difficult.
"Hey!"
She froze in her tracks as a light came close to her frame, then turned away from her at the last second.
Quickshadow had been assigned another mission from Optimus across the globe, this time to sneak into an underground bunker and download private information, then sneak out, without being detected.
It was far from new compared to the usual missions she was assigned, however lately she'd been having difficulty focusing on her objective during them. She couldn't put her digit on it, but everything seemed to circle back to -
"Nothing."
"I told you, you're hearing things."
Quickshadow had been... somewhere for a couple hours now, but Heatwave wasn't actually sure where. Was she in her berthroom? Outside? Was she even at the Academy? Had she gone to Griffin Rock?
He'd messaged her that morning saying they should meet up in their office ten minutes ago to talk about the Academy, and she hadn't even responded yet, let alone met him there.
He was starting to get worried.
She was almost to the area of the bunker that she could download the required data from, just a few more guards to sneak past.
The femme calculated her next set of moves in her processor from behind a wall, using cloaking technology just to be safe. If she took out any of the targets on the left in their current positions, all the targets on the right would see, and vice versa. She would have to be careful about this –
Her comm went off.
Slag.
She rushed to turn it off, but the damage had been done. How the frag had she forgotten to silence it? Quickshadow internally facepalmed, although she might as well have just facepalmed physically too – not only could she hear the ringing loud and clear through her audials, but the sound would also easily echo off of the walls of the building she was in.
And there were a number of guards standing in the hallway mere feet away from her, armed and trained to eliminate intruders such as herself.
Since he couldn't get ahold of her any other way, Heatwave figured calling Quickshadow directly was overall a bit desperate, but he was overall a bit scared. Usually, she would take a few minutes to respond to his holo-messages, sure, but it had been hours now, and he hadn't even seen her in the Academy halls all day.
