QIBLI'S POV

Qibli felt as if things just weren't right between him and Moon.

Ever since they went to Pantala and literally saved the world (again,) she was very distant and they hardly ever talked.
He thought maybe she was having a rough time, and he wanted to be there for her. But whenever he tried, she would just walk away, avoiding his gaze.
It fucking hurt.

He sighed. He knew it was the right thing to do, to break up with her. What use was a relationship if they didn't love each other?
He walked around the empty, quiet halls of Jade Mountain Academy. It was nighttime in Pyrrhia, 2 of the moons shone brightly in the ebony sky, illuminating the stone halls of the silent academy. He didn't even check her cave; he already knew where she would be.

As he walked through the stone archway that connected the hall to the library, there she was. The beautiful nightwing with dark emerald scales and glistening starry accents, and her teardrop scale. She sat between two shelves where battered old scrolls sat in the slots of the shelves, her eyes fixated on the cloudless navy sky. She was so peaceful there. He nearly walked away and didn't say anything at all, but he planted himself there. This was for the both of them. Not just him or her.

"Moon?" He walked up to her, tapping her wing softly. She jumped slightly, turning her head to look at him.
"Oh, it's just you." She sighed, looking away. She lifted her wings slightly, signalling she was going to walk away, but Qibli placed a talon on her back and held it there firmly.
"Your not going to run away, Moon." He stated firmly. "I- We need to talk." He sighed and sat down beside her.

Why did it have to come to this?

He thought about the time he first came to Jade Mountain Academy. He was freaked out on the inside, but he kept his exterior friendly and joking, hoping to keep a good reputation in this unfamiliar place. He was not very happy about being sent away by Thorn (Queen Thorn, now), and he was less happy about being sent all the way to Jade Mountain. But then he met Winter. Such a grumpy Icewing who out-sparkled any other dragon he had ever seen. However, he has tried his best to befriend Winter, no matter how grumpy or unlikable he was. He couldn't help but recall all those nights in his cave with Winter he had woken up to Winter looking at some scroll, muttering concepts he couldn't understand. He had so desperately wanted to sit beside his cool blue scales and help him with whatever he was doing. He had had so many dreams of leaning against the ice dragon, spending his time with him, showing him around the sandwing palace, sleeping with him. He knew it was all silly and would probably never happen, but a small crush wouldn't hurt anyone.
Then came Moon, when they saw her in the prey center. He was so, so jealous glint of love in Winter's eyes when he saw her. Qibli was so confused on his feelings after that. He felt like he had to outshine Moon but still be nice to Moon at the same time and maybe steal Moon from Winter to make him want Qibli in some form? It was also so bamboozling. It had all let to him neck-deep in this strange love triangle and now he was supposed to love Moon. Atleast, that's what he thought. And now Winter was in Sanctuary, working on some stupid scavenger thing when he wanted more than ever for him to be here with him so they could just...

"What is it?" Her soft voice broke his chain of deep thought and he met her confused gaze. Looking into her beautiful eyes just made it hurt more. He looked away quickly.

"Listen, Moon.. Recently, you've become very distant from me. I've been trying to figure out why, and I've been trying my best to be a good boyfriend to you by being there, but you simply won't let me. You either run away, or find an excuse to get away from me. I don't know why your doing this, and there's probably a reason, but I can't do this anymore." He paused, trying to keep his voice from breaking. Her expression was muddled, unreadable, as if she was experiencing too many emotions and couldn't choose one. "My point is...
We need to break up, Moonwatcher."

He looked up, waiting for some answer, any answer. Moon opened and closed her mouth many times, her eyes looked confused and heartbroken, which just made Qibli feel worse. He would rather get stabbed by all the outclaws in the entire sand kingdom than see her face in such a sad state, but he couldn't bring up the courage to look away.
"I..." She sighed. "I understand. I'm very sorry you felt like this, I didn't know.." she reached her wing out to comfort him but he flinched away.
"I guess it's for the best." She smiled as best she could, holding in tears. Qibli could tell by the way her eyes watered. He felt like he was now getting personally stabbed by Queen Thorn, right through the heart.
Then she walked away, out of the library, leaving Qibli speechless and alone.

Just as he was before they met.

(Whoo hoo, 976 words! Sorry if it's short for a first chapter, I'm pretty tired and I just pulled this randomly out from my head. Tell me what you think about this! It helps support me.

Also, sorry that there was no Qinter action, I just wanted to set this up so that Moon was out of the way.)
