SHE DARED TO SAY SHE felt entirely exhilarated as she gazed up at the white-haired man before her, shivering at the mere excitement of being completely in control of the situation at hand. Though she tried her best to ignore the odd sense of guilt that tugged in the back of her mind, as if the small remnants of her humanity still lingered within the sunken depths of her maddened consciousness, making the warm blood of the innocent man who lay motionless at her feet feel nearly white-hot against her pale skin no matter how hard she tried to ignore it.She hated when it happened, when her old sense of morals managed to slip through the unfilled cracks of her insanity—the truth of her immoral wrongs burned at her very veins like a venom.
The brown-eyed girl let out a loose hum, tearing her eyes from his vivid blues to gaze down at the dead body below, "Sorry, my finger slipped, friend of yours?"
Before she knew it the insignificant thoughts of the now-dead stranger below filtered into her mind, and she found herself wondering if he had a family. A sweet, loving family. The same one she'd once yearned for.
And as the steady grip on her gun faltered, glossy lips parting, her overactive imagination conjured up a whole life for him. Perhaps he was an upcoming father, having just been promoted and bought his first home with his loving pregnant wife. Maybe after all this mess she and Sukuna had created, the man planned to bring back a warm meal to his wife; maybe his wife would've rush to him in relief at seeing that he'd made it home safe before they enjoyed the rest of their night cuddling and thinking of baby names. A happily ever after.
An every lasting Disney kaisen, if you will.
But that wouldn't happen, no, because the man she'd shot only moments before was now nothing but an empty husk of flesh and cooling blood.
