Chapter 4: The Fateful Encounter

[Sage's POV]

"Mate!" Said Nova and Fawn inside my head.

"He is very charming, don't you think?" Said Nova flirtatiously.

"Nova, haven't you forgotten. We aren't supposed to like him. We hate them," I said to her.

"Oh.. right..sorry," Nova said.

I was pulled out of my head by that vampire, Roy.

"Hello sir, what brings you here?" He says.

"I've came to check up on your progress.. as I can see you haven't discovered anything regarding where my beloved is," the prince said looking fiercely at Roy and Zane.

"We have picked up her trail a couple of times, but they disappear. She is a very clever girl," Zane says.

"Indeed she is, she will be a great queen," the Prince replies looking around the area.

"I wonder why she is running," says Roy looking up at the nearing night sky.

The prince turns away from them.

"I do not know. But she must have a reason. Even though I haven't found her, I've seen her in my dreams running away. From what? I do not know. But it hurts me, that she continues to run from me," Says the prince sorrowfully.

Zane and Roy walk up to him. Zane throws his arm over his shoulder.

"Don't worry, Xavier. We will find her. And when you see her, she won't run from you, she'll run to you," Zane says thoughtfully.

"I hope your right," the Prince says.

"How long can she run for, anyways. We are bound to find her," Roy says.

"Did you hear that, Sage? We are hurting him, by running away," Fawn says whimpering in my head.

"I'm sorry guys, you know why we keep running from him," I say in my head. After that, Fawn nor Nova, didn't say a word.

I sighed. And moved a little, which was a big mistake. I bumped into a tree branch, causing it to make a noise.

"Did you hear that?" Questions Roy.

I held my breath. I look at the Prince and see that he has his eyes closed.

All of a sudden, he opens his eyes and says.

"She's here. I can feel her presence."

Zane and Roy start looking around.

I hide as best as I can in the trees, but it wasn't enough. I was about to bolt.

"My beloved, please don't run. Come out please," I heard the prince say desperately.

I didn't move.

"Sage, I know you're here. I can feel you. Come out please," he said looking around into the trees.

I shivered whenever he said my name.

"Go to him!" Nova says urgently.

I shake my head. "I can't," I said to her.

The Prince gets closer to the tree I'm in, my breathing picks up. I see that Zane and Roy start to follow him.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no," I thought looking around for a quick escape route.

Bingo.

I stand up quietly and start walking across the thick tree branch that I was perched on. I use my vampire ability to run the rest and jump of the branch.
