Hello, Just a quick announcement before chapter 2. I am a writer only as a hobby. So there may be some grammar and misused words within my story. Eventually, I will get around to rewriting this story. But that is far in the future.
------
I wake up with a jolt, before grabbing my head from the pain. I groan as I let the pain settle before looking around my surroundings. I see that I appear to be in a hut of some kind. My hands, now resting in my lap, clench at the fabric covering me. The texture is something I have never felt before, so after closer inspection, well as best as I can since it's so dark in here. The only light is coming from the hut flap.
However it seems the blanket and the "bedding" I'm on is made from animal fur, pelts, and hide. Underneath the pelts below me is wood. I close my eyes while thinking about what I could possible do in this situation. If I really came into this world as Marianne... and since magic exists here to an extent.. I need to be careful. If they find out I'm not her... I-I..don't want to think about that right now...
While Anne was distracted thinking to herself, she did not hear the flap open. Silent footsteps approached before stopping. The person stood watching Marianne before crouching down next to them. Leaning their arms on their knees as they observed her. Eventually, Anne felt a presence next to her, she looked to her left and nearly jumped out of her skin.
"Ahg!" Shouted Anne. "Robin! What are you doing!?!" Robin tilted his head while narrowing his eyes. He slowly reached out his right hand as he grabbed a strand of her hair. Rubbing it between his fingers for a few moments before saying, "Marianne. You do not seem to quite yourself."
Anne flinched before trying to come up with some form of excuse. Robin narrowed eyes turned into a glare before he leaned over more, going from a crouch into a kneeling position. He placed his right hand on her left shoulder and his left hand on her lap, clasping one of her hands. "Marianne." Robin said whispered. "Are you sure you are fine?"
Anne looked down at her lap before saying "I-I just... that wine that I drank last night.. It really seemed to have done a number on me! I guess I just couldn't handle it!" She started to sweat as she wondered if that would be good enough for now. Luck seemed to be on her side because Robin slowly stood back up, regarding her with caution.
I looked up at him. I don't know if he trusts me. I'm scared that he may figure something out. Quickly! Think! Think! Give me something... OH! One of the last pieces of the conversation I heard before passing out was him ordering someone to see where the bottle of wine came from... Yes! That's what I will do now...
"Ha..ha.. Jokes aside..Robin, did you figure out where that bottle of wine came from? I wouldn't be surprised if the State put it purposely into our spoils to try and get the better edge on us." Did that work? I glanced at Robin and noticed his stiff appearance seemed to relax a bit. Sweet! Alright.. Now.. Marianne is very confident in her abilities... I can't act sheepish. It will give me away too easily. Let's give this a shot.
Anne quickly started to massage her legs before testing the weight and standing. It took her a few attempts when her head erupted into dizziness each time she tried to get up. However, she was eventually able to do so. Robin took a few steps back to give her room. Once she was up, and adjusted her clothing slightly, she looked at Robin with as much confidence as she could and said, "So. What's the plan?"
Who know that was all it would take to get Robin to completely relax around me? I mean... I know looking confident goes a long way.. But this almost felt like cheating. Anyway, it is better this way. Robin is the LAST person I want finding out that I'm not actually Marianne. He is a bit too eager for slaughter...
