That phone alarm is just as annoying as the first ten trillion times he's heard it. Though this time, he'll admit, Dmitri's glad it's waken him up.
He stretches in the bed before sitting up and silencing the phone. The sunlight shining from the miniature window of James' bedroom reminds him what day it really is today.
He turns over, seeing James still nuzzled in a bundle of sheets and pillows, sleeping soundly, and through the alarm that had just very loudly rang out too. So, Dmitri took it upon himself to be the one to wake him up.
"Jamie..." He singsongs, pressing his lips on his lover's forehead, then another on his cheek, then his nose, then his lips. He brushes him with gentle kisses, until he wakes up.
The first thing he does when he's awaken from his slumber is let out a breathy chuckle. "Normally I'm the one who has to wake you up. What happened to asking for ten more minutes or so?"
"Today's different," Dmitri replies as an obvious attempt at banter. "It's more special."
James sighs, then forces himself to sit up as well, though with much more struggle, and he rubs his eyes, almost seeming like he wants to go back to sleep, or be the one to ask for an extra few minutes this time.
"C'mon," Dmitri takes him by the waist, James' head instinctively falling to his lover's shoulder. "Aren't ya excited for today?"
"Of course I am," James glances up at him. "My fiancé."
He straightens himself to reach Dmitri's lips. The morning is officially started with a gentle smooch, and a reminder of what the day is. Neither of them could believe it, that they've waited this long, been together this long, planned this long. Dmitri recalls James telling him he wouldn't be able to sleep a wink, for he'd be too busy daydreaming about the wedding.
"Though," James murmurs, his face dropping ever so slightly. "Are you truly ready to let the world know about... us? We're not in the state to elope, and we've planned this far, but... do you really think now is the perfect time?"
Dmitri frowns. Vaguely, but still a frown. "Are ya... havin' doubts?"
"No, I would never doubt to marry you," James reassures him with a peck on the cheek. "I simply want to make sure that... you don't feel pressured, or stressed about all this. There's no denying that people will be surprised of our marriage, especially when they've been left in the dark about our dating phase, and that we're publicly known as enemies. That being said, I... I simply want to know if you're ready."
A relief fills his heart. Dmitri clasps James' hand. "I'm ready if you are. I'm ready for anythin'. At this point, nothin' can come between us, ya hear me?"
James chuckles. "It'll benefit our companies too."
Dmitri rolls his eyes. "Always thinkin' about business, eh, pechen'ye?"
James gasps dramatically. "You dare call me that again?"
"Maybe I do."
"Shut."
And James shuts him up further with a kiss. It starts all innocent. Light smooches deepening with every momentary break, up until James' tongue brushes over Dmitri's bottom lip, and Dmitri welcomes him, encourages it even. Their tongues dance between now moist lips, and gentle moans leave lovely huffs in the air.
"Hey..." James titters, when Dmitri moves from his lips to his neck, then traces his lips down to his collarbone. "Couldn't you wait till... the honeymoon, at least?"
"Ya know how crazy ya drive me, Jamie," Dmitri mutters lowly, and he can practically feel James tense up against him, with the best kind of tension.
"Fine," James brings a hand up to tangle itself in Dmitri's hair, before both his hands grab at Dmitri's shoulders and James plops him back down to the mattress. "Make sure to savor this one. It's the last time we'll ever do it as domestic lovers."
Dmitri chuckles, finding the wording funny. James always uses such robotic dictionary wording, not that Dmitri finds it any less attractive. He then lifts up one of James' legs to help him up in straddling his waist.
"Oh I'll make it count alright," He tugs on James' collar, bringing him down so he could reach his lips again. "But I'm sure it'll feel ten times better once we're married."
James returns the smirk, before lavishing in a deep kiss. Both of them have their own sessions awaiting. To negotiate the final touches of catering, hosting, gathering and all of that. Not to mention the most important part, presenting themselves. They need to hurry to their designated rooms to get ready for the wedding, put on their suits and prepare their vows and do whatever things couples have to do prior to their wedding.
But of course, they couldn't help themselves. Surely the others wouldn't mind if they were just a tad bit late to their respective appointments. Tamara's definitely gonna blow a fuse though. Katherine too.
Because imagine being late to your own wedding.
End.
