Dmitri has his mind occupied, and not of that disastrous meeting just a few minutes ago. Well, it wasn't inherently a disaster. He just didn't care enough to pay attention and hear any of it, so technically it's a soon-to-be disaster.
No, he was too busy staring at the man sitting opposite him to have worried about the meeting. James Artino. Straight-laced, stone-faced, quiet and reserved Mr. James Artino of Artino Holdings. It's so bizzare to have seen him in his usual state now, considering what happened between them last night.
All Dmitri could think about was that emotionless face twisted with pleasure as he fucked him silly.
It's funny, really. Unlike anyone he's slept with, who'd simply come and go and barely ever cross his mind again, who'd end up deciding that they'd be strangers the very next day, unlike those quick fixes and one night stands, James just had to be the one to stand out.
Maybe it's because he's a man, and Dmitri's never slept with another man before. James had been the first, and with how noisy it ended up being, Dmitri deems himself a quick learner. Or maybe it's because he's spent so much time poking the other man, teasing him, bullying him like a hormonal kid with a crush, that he's never realized just how long he's actually wanted this. Maybe it could be the joy he gets from being able to break James' professional demeanor, and see just how noisy the quiet ones can really be.
Dmitri hates him. James is always so stuffy, so self-important, nose in the air yet eyes down to the world, always looking down at the world, always, like he's better than everyone else, like being the typically cold-hearted C.E.O deems him worthy enough to be treated like a king. It drives Dmitri insane.
He just wants to break him. In more ways than one. Yes, that's the reason why he's still in his head after last night. Well, one of.
There's more than one reason, for sure. Dmitri won't lie that James is eye candy to him. If looks could kill...
Still, their secret little rendezvous had occupied Dmitri's mind all night that he's barely gotten enough sleep. Faint images of him pinning James down on the mattress constantly flashes in his head, and it doesn't help that the very man sat before him.
Let's just say Dmitri kept his legs crossed throughout the entire meeting for a reason.
He couldn't help but discreetly grit his teeth at the sight of him either. Other than being hot and clearly knowing it, James had left Dmitri to wake up alone at that dingy motel.
It wasn't uncommon for Dmitri to find himself alone in the morning. It was just James that made him feel challenged.
It's always that damned James Artino.
So here he is. Dmitri's standing in front of James' office door, in the Artino Holdings' office building, when he really should go back to his own company building and get started with the unholy amount of paperwork he's postponed for so long.
Never matter, he knocks on the door. "It's not locked." He hears James' familiar monotone voice muffled in the room. So with permission granted, he opens the door and strolls in.
He sees James, who's standing at the desk, back facing him. Dmitri catches sight of the windowed wall behind the desk, and he frowns when he sees the desk not positioned to watch the view below. Why bar yourself from a beautiful view? If you're gonna work, at least make it pretty. You'll enjoy yourself more like that.
"Katherine, I believe I told you to tell Hemlock that we're not accepting their offer," James says, evidently clueless, thinking the person who'd just walked in is his secretary. To Dmitri, all he's saying is just plain gibberish, but he lets him continue, to hear that light voice of his, and make note of the slight rasp it has from screaming so much last night. "Then how come I've found a contract of-"
