Charlotte's POV:
I was in the middle of my journey when a sudden thunderstorm hit, causing me to feel worried. As the rain began to fall heavily, I peered out of the window in an attempt to gauge the situation. The sky had turned an ominous shade of grey, and the sound of thunder was deafening, making me feel small and vulnerable.
The rain was coming down in sheets, and the wind was blowing fiercely, causing the trees and bushes to sway dangerously.
I couldn't help but worry about my safety and the potential dangers that lay ahead. To add to my concerns, I realized that I had an important meeting scheduled for the next day, and this storm could potentially make it impossible for me to attend. I wondered if the rain would stop before morning.
"Is everything okay? You seem a bit worried," Mrs. Thompson said with concern shown in her eyes.
"It's a bit hard to deny this one, Mrs. Thompson, I truly feel worried now," I said while feeling like a hopeless cat. Well, it's more like I truly am a hopeless cat, I didn't bring an umbrella with me! I screamed inside my head. I'm so stupid, yeah, I am because I never bother to check the weather forecast every time I go out, to be honest, it's more like I don't care if it rains, if it rains I can't do anything about it, it's not like I can control the weather whenever I want to. I mean who would bother to check their forecast anyway?
"Oh, that's right, you still have a meeting tomorrow, no?" Mrs. Thompson asked while looking at me attentively.
I nodded with a hint of confusion. I haven't mentioned it to Mrs. Thompson yet, well I was about to, but she was the one who stated it first before I could.
Mrs. Thompson seemed to notice my confusion so she smiled "You mentioned it to me earlier."
Did I really mention it to her earlier? Or have I just forgotten, and I did? I think it's best to just brush it off and focus on the main problem here.
"Dear, you didn't bring your umbrella, did you?" she said raising an eyebrow while crossing her arms unamused.
"Two times, two times Mrs. Thompson, you guessed it right each time," I said with an amused look. Sometimes, I feel like she can read my mind. That would be an interesting power though, if I had that power, I could've used it to my advantage and become the smartest person alive just by mind-reading. Well, too bad some things just aren't meant to be possible.
"That means I know you well, Charlotte, a forgetful and clumsy young woman in her late 20's, who doesn't check the forecast before going out and someone who is obsessed with nonexistent men." She sighed dramatically "I know you too well dear, it's quite amusing if you think about it."
"Touché" the last one hit me like a hard rock that I couldn't deny it anymore she really knows me well, in fact, more than I know myself.
Her sarcastic face slowly shifted and now it turned a bit serious. She took something out of her pocket. "Here take it," she said handing me a huge key. I looked at her as confusion washed over me. "What is this Mrs. Thompson?" I asked while my hands slowly reached for the key.
"It's the key to open the secret passage."
