“Be good sweetheart.” My dad called as I slammed the door shut on his brand new corvette. I turned to smile at him. “Yes Daddy.” I reply, trying to give him an upbeat smile. It was the first day of a new high school. Why should I have a good time? He nodded and drove off. I took in a deep breath and walked to the front office, trying not to get the snow slush on my new shoes. Already phones were ringing and the office ladies were running frantically, trying to get everything done when I walked in.
“Um excuse me?” I cleared my throat. A woman glanced at me. “Yes……sweetie?” She sighed, clearly irritated. “I’m new here.” I told her. She smiled and muttered through her gritted teeth, “Aren’t we all….” I was appalled by her rudeness. “I’m Gabriella Williams.” I spoke, slowly.
Her eyes widened and mouth opened a little. My father, Harry Williams, was the richest and, according to many women here, the sexiest man with a successful newspaper. The only newspaper in this pathetic town. “So sorry.” She scrambled, looking for my papers. I stared at the clock, hoping I wouldn’t be late the first day.
The door swung open and I turned around. My goddess of a sister, Scarlett, practically hit their potted plant off the desk with her bag. Good things she’s pretty…. She gave me a dazzling smile. Of course, only she would have gotten a ride from the insanely hot next door neighbor. As for me, I had to get a ride with my dad while I saved up the money for a car, which wasn’t looking to hot. “Scarlett Williams!” She spoke clearly.
The secretary glanced up. “Found them.” She explained our schedules and the map. “Get the pink sheet signed by all your teachers.” She ordered. “What if I don’t?” Scarlett challenged a smirk on her face. I sighed. Here we go….. The lady just glared at her. “Then you get detention for skipping class.”
Scarlett stared back for a few seconds. “Gabi, let’s go.” She marched out and I gave a weak smile to the lady as I followed. “What the heck?!” I cried when the door shut. She looked over at me surprised. “What did I do?” She asked, confused. I sighed and pointed to the office. “Oh that? I don’t like being bossed around.” She explained, ruffling her blonde curls.
My sister is the goddess of goddesses. She has long, curly, blonde hair that goes past her shoulders and piercing green eyes that when she’s mad, you think they are going to shoot lasers at you. She has a 5’6 frame and has the perfect hourglass figure. The kind every girl dreams of. Her lips are plump and are always turned up in the corners, naturally. She’s the one every guy wants. Not me.
I wave goodbye to her and walk down the hall to try to find my junior level Spanish. A bell rings and the halls become frantic with students speeding up their pace. Either that was the one minute bell or the late bell. I sigh and continue on. Where was my class?
After 5 minutes of retracing my steps, going down endless hallways, I find the class. I take a deep breath and walk in. Every head turns in my direction, and then come the whispers. “I hear its Mr. William’s daughter.” A girl whispers. I feel my cheeks getting warm and walk to the teacher and hand my pink slip. She signs it and smiles. “Students, this is Gabriella Williams. She’s new here.” My larger teacher says. She points to a seat and I hurry down the aisle, trying to save as much embarrassment as possible.
