Danny's P.O.V.

The night sky was clear tonight in the Heart of New York.  It was an odd sight, seeing the bright stars. Normally the city lights would brighten the sky and the rare beauty of the unknown would be gone. However tonight was different. The moon smiled and showed her beautiful face. It smiled at the stars that twinkled with joy.  The wind blew slightly, lowering the spring temperature to 56 degrees. Leaves had not been hatched from their shells. Their beauty has not yet been shown. The air smelled of the ocean, salt filled my lungs as I breathed in the wonderful smell. My lungs felt cold as I inhaled, like ice formed on the inside. I did not hate the feeling. It was okay, uncomfortable for the most part, yet...I liked it. My fingertips were cold  and my nose burned from the breeze. There was a soft tingling on both of them from the cold.

It had taken longer than I had hoped to become spring, however it takes the same time every year. New York still seemed to be in its cold, uncaring, dead shell. This year, it just seemed to take longer for the city to come alive! To feel something! The blossoms had not yet grown and tree buds had not yet swelled.  The grass was still brown, but I could see the lime green fighting its way past the cold. I loved the month of May, it showed the beauty of nature and brought beauty to a city that was already so alive. In the winter New York is one thing...but in the Spring!  It allowed for the rare sight of animals. Real animals I mean. Animals that are, for the most part, living in nature. They fight the life known as survival of the fittest. Not the animals that stick around the city because the people here leave food everywhere, allowing the birds and such to cheat their way through life. I sighed...The city is such a beautiful place. Yet it is the thing caging me.

Slowly I laid my head on the taxi's open window and closed my eyes. "What are you thinking about Danny?" A voice asked to my right.

I forced a smile, almost forgetting he was here. "Nothing..." I said quietly turning to him. I smiled and leaned towards him. His green eyes stared at me and sparkled.

"No, you have that look in your eyes, you were thinking about something, Danielle." Miles smiled and leaned away from me. Miles ran his hand through his perfect blonde hair.

I chucked and shook my head, looking out the window. "What look?"

Next to me I left Miles starring at me. "Your eyes sparkle when your happy." He said putting his arm on my shoulder.

I rolled my eyes. "It was nothing," I chuckled. "Nothing...important." I sighed.  Not to you.

Miles leaned shifted closer to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Nothing important?" He said kissing the crevice of my neck. Slowly the smile fell from my face

A shiver ran down my spine. Forcing my appearance I chuckled  and ignore the feeling amurging in my stomach. "Yes, nothing important. Plus," I laughed. "It is not like you care." I gently hit his head with my free hand as he tried to kiss my lips. "We are in a taxi Miles, be polite, I'm sure this man does not want to see you falling head over heals for me." I said smiling. "I'm sorry Sir, Miles here has just had a bit to much to drink."

Miles pulled away from me. "I had one drink." He said, trying to pull me towards him. I rolled my eyes as I felt my mood change.

"It had five shots in it." I said under my breath as I turned back to the window. Quietly, I felt my heart drop.

This was Miles. The blonde hair, green eyed love of my life who played quarterback for our high school. The man who has won homecoming king and is in the running for Prom King. Everyone tells me he is perfect and my Romeo which, is kind of true. Miles is an odd kind of perfect, everyone is, but Miles is special. He is not perfect in the form of morals, or actions...he perfect in the form of...cliche. The is the guy everyone wants and I get. His is the Ken doll, everyone wants one. I am the barbie who gets him. His hair falls perfectly in place, even when he is drenched in sweat and mud from his football games. His eyes sparkle like the sun shines from them and on a rainy day, they shine brighter. Miles...Miles is attractive to say the least. That is all the perfect Miles has. His personality...it is...broken.
