"Oh shit." Mr. Saleh whispered.

My whole world crashed. Him?! Really?! I would rather jump off a cliff than marry this stubborn guy.

I had wanted a nice, practicing guy. Not an arrogant money crazy man.

I was thinking if I burst out the door how fast will I be. Will I be able to make it in time? I look back and forth between the door and my mom.

I suddenly Mr. Saleh catches my gaze and understands. His eyes become slits and his jaw stiffens. I knew that he was giving me a warning.

I breathed out heavily and sat next to my mother. "Oh no habibti. Go sit next to Maher." She pointed towards the sitting Mr. Saleh.

Maher tilted his head up in surprise. He looked like he didn't want me anywhere near him. But he looked away and proceeded looking back and forth at what I was going to choose.

I remained stubborn. I got up only to sit in a different chair. Not even close to him. He noticed but he looked away.

As my parents and his dad began talking about the marriage and everything I zoned out.

I began to think how my life would be now? How could I handle this? This guy I'm marrying doesn't even care for me and from what I can see has so many problems. My marriage is going to end in divorce.

I don't see the point. We can even end up in misery. I don't know if Maher wants this but it seems he's loathing this as well.

I look up at them all talking together. I'm surprised Maher is joining the conversation.

"So what do you think?" His dad suddenly asks me. I sit up quickly.

Dang it I have no clue what they were saying. Should I say yes? "um.. Sure." I'm probably going to regret this later.

As soon as I answer Maher looks at me in an amusing way.

"Great. We will rent an apartment for you two and after the wedding you can move in." His dad says.

Wait what?! No I want to live here!

"But is it close to here?" I whisper. I'm so close to crying but I'm pulling the tears back.

I don't want to be stuck all alone with him. Why. Why does this have to happen. I will be lonely and miserable.

"Oh umm. Yeah I will look for one close." His dad says again unsure.

I felt like getting up and running off but it will only make me look childish. What does he mean!! I don't want to be all lonely!!

"We will find one here. Right next to your family's home." Maher suddenly spoke up.

I felt relieved. He must of noticed how desperate I was.

"Okay. Then it's fine." I reply a little happier.

After they left I felt stuffed. I felt sad as well. I don't know what's in store for me but I really do hope he's a good guy. May Allah help us both.

I sat on to the couch and checked my phone. I got many messages from Hana congratulating me on being engaged and asking me how it was.

I replied and was about to call her when I heard a knock at the door.

I get up and open the door. To my surprise there stood Maher looking down at me.

"What do you want?" I say snappily.

"You. I mean isn't it what we just agreed to?" He snapped back.

I squint my eyes. "okay you know what?" I was about to attack him but he pulled out a little box from his pocket.

"I forgot to give you this." His voice was softer now. He threw it at me and I caught it quickly.

I open it to find a beautiful diamond ring. Oh my it was a huge size as well. It sparkled as I moved the box around and I became mesmerized by it.

I tried to take it out but it fell out of my hand because I'm such a dork. Maher glared at me but then bent down before I could to pick it up.

He started wiping it on his shirt. "This wasn't cheap you know"

"It's fine you can return it." I say back. Sure it's a nice ring but a ring won't make me fall in love with you no matter how expensive.

He stopped and looked up at me. His anger seemed much more present than before. He clenched his jaw and quickly grabbed my wrist towards him.

"What are you-" I started to say while trying to pull my hand back.

He slid the ring on my ring finger and let go of me. "There."

"I said I don't want it!"

"Keep it on. I'm not returning it." He said harshly.

He then walked away to his car and drove away while I stared at him.

That's it he's crazy.

I looked down at my hand and felt special. My hand looks prettier with the ring. Maybe I'll just keep it on for a short while.
