"Where are you taking me?" It was already dark in the Awa'atlu area, and the two na'vi should have been home by now, Ao'nung knew that well. But instead, he was heading deep into the forest on the island, being dragged by the hand through it by the person who, hours ago, wouldn't have been able to take the same breath. He let himself be led wherever they were going. Neteyam's hand was warm and he was glad he hadn't let go since the beach. If only a little, he wanted to feel the other's warm skin on his own.
"Surprise." Neteyam turned back to him with a big smile. He missed his smile. The sight filled him with warmth, even if it was only for a moment.
After a few minutes of walking, Neteyam stopped, let go of Ao'nung's hand and while turning towards him, he took out a material from his pouch. "I need to cover your eyes. " He said while looking completely at Ao'nung. The metkayina did not like the idea. He was in the woods, not with the person he was most attracted to. Ao'nung took a step back, hands raised in front of him.
"You.That there. Won't tie it on my head. What if you get me kidnapped? Are you going to tie me to one of the trees? Are you going to leave me here for the night to some forest predator that only you know about?" Neteyam's tinkling laugh interrupted his worried speech. He covered his mouth with his hand so that Ao'nung could only see his shining golden eyes.
"Why would I do that?" the forest boy tried to calm the cheerfulness of the forward, which was caused by the despair of the other "Don't compare me to yourself, I'm not you, Ao'nung" with a smile on his face he reduced the distance that metkayina caused earlier. "Just let me put this on. You'll be fine. I promise." at the end he put his hand on his chest, thus assuring the other that you were telling the truth.
Half-heartedly, Ao'nung turned his nose up, but agreed to the other's game. For once, he decided to trust him, even if he was going to regret it. Once Neteyam got the confirmation, he stepped behind him and carefully placed the material over his head. He clasped their hands together again and began to lead the other through the thick of the forest at a slower pace than the first.
After a while, they reached the place where Neteyam had to take the ocean boy. The place was surprisingly silent, as if the others had sensed their approach. So he carefully led the other inside and let go of his hand. "You can take it off now." Neteyam's voice hit Ao'nung's ears from a little further away. Hesitantly, he reached for the scarf, and as soon as he took it off, he blinked flatly, trying to get his eyes used to the light again. As soon as his eyes got used to the light, he looked around in surprise.
He didn't have much time to look around the place, because the small crowd in front of him, which consisted of his friends, started shouting at the same time, shouting the same phrase "Happy Birthday". Ao'nung just stood in shock, not quite understanding what was happening. He thought everyone had forgotten. That he had only annoyed them in recent days. He thought everyone hated him. His eyes began to mist, and he used all his remaining mental strength to keep himself from crying pathetically in front of her friends.
"I thought... all of you forgot" he put his palm on his face and raised his head to the sky. A relieved sigh escaped her lips, then she pulled them into a smile. He was happy.

Everyone then greeted Ao'nung personally, giving them gifts. He was surprised to receive the items, as he did not expect them, and the surprise party felt more than enough.
However, he was sure of one thing, namely that he would not receive a gift from a person. And this was Neteyam. He didn't know why the very thought made him sick, but there was no denying the fact that he would have been happy with something he was giving him. For anything. He just wanted a little more attention from him.
He was in the middle of a conversation with his sister, Tsireya, but a tap on his shoulder broke him out of the conversation. Turning back, he was surprised to find that it was Neteyam. He stood there with two hands behind his back, a gentle smile on his face. His eyes sparkled with excitement. "Happy Birthday" He said as he carefully pulled out the necklace he had been working on for weeks from behind his back. He carefully raised it in front of Ao'nung, who at first could not react due to surprise. He just looked at the boy in front of him. After snapping out of the initial shock, he took the necklace from Neteyam as if it were the greatest treasure in the world. Maybe it was. Maybe it was for him.
"Thank you" Ao'nung put the jewel on himself with a smile. It was just right. It fit him perfectly.
The party was already in full swing when Ao'nung started looking for Neteyam with his eyes, but he was nowhere to be found. So, he went to Kiri to find out where to find him, and she boredly pointed to a small part of the forest, adding that her brother had gone to get some air. Accompanied by a nod, he started in the indicated direction.
There were too many questions in his mind, and he wanted answers immediately. The gift that Neteyam gave him was not a simple piece. It had meaning in the clan. And he wanted to know what it was all about. What's on the other person's mind. Was it a mistake or he absolutely knows what it means.
He found him sitting on a fallen tree trunk with his eyes closed, heading towards the sky. He slowly walked over to him and took a seat next to the other. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know how to begin. So Ao'nung just stared at the grass beneath their feet.
"Do you..." the words caught in metkayina's throat as soon as their eyes met again. He nervously began to scan the golden irises, which curiously looked back into his. His palms began to sweat and his mouth went dry. He suddenly broke eye contact because he felt that if he kept looking at the pair of eyes, something idiotic would come out of his mouth "Do you mean it?" He raised his eyes again to Neteyam, his voice was uncertain and lost, blowing out the air intermittently, trembling.
The omatikaya's face showed surprise, but as soon as he realized what the other was thinking, he just pulled his lips into a smile. "Maybe I do." his eyes glistened cheekily in the moonlight "Maybe I'm not" he slowly got up from the tree, intending to go back to the others. "Find out, fish lips" Accompanied by a wink, he quickened his steps and left the surprised Ao'nung, who stared shocked at Neteyam's receding silhouette in the forest for several minutes.
Little by little he began to return to the present, taking in the other's words. Then, when he put everything together, only a disbelieving smile spread across his face as he gently touched the necklace with his fingers. He didn't fully understand what the other was trying to achieve.
But he was sure of one thing.
He will find out. He definitely will.
