Meredith groans as her uncle slaps open the blinds and chirps his good mornings. Annie groans two minutes later when her uncle repeats the routine in there. Meredith rubs her eyes before she feels Spike's slobbery tongue on her face.
"Spike!" Meredith giggles, ruffling Spike's fur. "Want to get breakfast? You want food baby?"
Spike hops off the bed wagging his little tail in excitement. She gets up, slipping a robe on top of her nightgown. She could hear Annie still arguing with their uncle on why he had dared to wake her from her sleep. This really was unlike him. She grabs her phone, sifting through her notifications.
Noah: Good Morning beautiful!
Instagram: you have new likes
Noah: I hope you slept well.
Snap: Michael has sent a snap.
She clicks her tongue before hopping down the stairs one by one, Spike trailing happily behind her. What would she do? Can she just ghost Noah? She knows she said yes and gave him her number, so technically she would still hurt his feelings. It wasn't like he knew where she lived, so how bad could it be? She opens the message nervously.
Ah, I forgot that he doesn't have an iPhone. He won't know that I-
"Good morning!"
She stops at the bottom of the stairs. Noah? Is he here?
"I-uh-I, Good morning?"
"Your uncle ended up inviting me to breakfast. I hope you don't-"
"Robert! What is HE doing here?!" Annie screeches.
Our uncle chuckles, making it down the stairs as well, "I invited him for breakfast! I decided he could hang with us for a morning. See if he is any good for Mer's date!"
Meredith turns, her jaw wide open, "You could have told us!"
"No, because then you would have texted him not to come! I couldn't allow that!"
Annie laughs, "well, that explains why you woke us up today. You never care how late we sleep in."
Meredith nods before grabbing a plate and filling it with whatever her uncle had made for them. Sitting down across from Noah, she plasters a smile on her face, trying to look as friendly as she could manage. Annie looked more mad about Noah being there than she was herself.
Maybe I could just tell him he isn't my type when he leaves. This will be the first time we have hung out outside of school. So, maybe I could just end it today. I'm no relationship person, dating isn't my thing...But poor Noah...
"So, Noah," Robbie begins. "How long have you known Meredith?"
Noah clears his throat, "Since middle school. I never got the nerve to really ever talk to her, maybe occasionally in high school to see how she was. College was the big step for me, after Josie-"
"We don't need to talk about-"
"Who's Josie?" Annie speaks up. "Wasn't she the bitch who said some sideways shit to you two years ago?"
Meredith blinks fast, looking at her sister, "I-yeah."
"Has she been continuing? Or did it stop then?"
Noah clears his throat again, "You-you knew she was doing things? You never tried to stop her?" Noah then turns to her, "Why didn't you tell them about the shit she has pulled?"
God, why did he have to mention Josie?
Annie looks at her, "it didn't stop? Why did-why didn't you-She's why you started partying...You started drinking and partying two years ago...Mer..."
