Annie didn't need to reply for Meredith to get her answer. Annie was pale white, her hands were shaking, and she was crying silently. Meredith continued to question her sister, trying her best to keep her focus on her uncle. She was worried that she was too late.

"Annie, what is it? Who was it?"

"C-continue CPR Mer! Don't pay me any mind, Mer."

"But, if you're seeing Robbie it won't matter!"

"Just do the damn CPR!" Annie snaps. "Just because I can see him, doesn't mean he's dead!"

She heard a knock at the front door and Annie ran to go let the paramedics inside. They took over for Meredith, so she got up and stood at the door by her sister. Her whole body was shaking. She didn't know life without her uncle. This couldn't be the end, could it?

"Annie...you can see him-which means...which means he died. How-how long had he been in here? That we could have-could have saved him?"

"He isn't gone until the hospital declares it! Until then, he's not dead, Mer! Robbie did not go into the light. It happened 2 minutes ago. Whatever made you want to check on him, saved him." Annie grips her shoulders, pulling her into a hug. "He'll live. He has to. He wouldn't leave us."

"Are we joining him at the hospital?"

Annie looks into Meredith's eyes, "I'm going. I will follow them. You stay here, have Noah over. You need the distraction, and he makes you happy. I will text you with any updates."

Meredith nodded as she held onto her sister. All she knew was her sister and uncle. She couldn't lose her uncle. Not now. She locked the door behind everyone and texted Noah to see if he could come sooner. He replied not long after that he was on his way.

She went back into the kitchen, grabbing the leftover waffles and putting them into the fridge. She emptied the teapot and cleaned the dirty dishes by hand. She knew if she was going to try not to think about Robbie, she had to stay active. She had to do anything she could.

Opening the front door, she smiles at Noah, "welcome back!"

"Where'd your sister go?" Noah looks around.

"Went with Robbie. Well, more like followed him. To the hospital."

"What happened?"

She sat down on the couch in the living room, "I-I had this gut feeling to check on Robbie. When he didn't answer for a while, we barged in. He wasn't breathing, so I did CPR. But, Annie saw him...which means that-that he died..."

"She saw him? But if he wasn't breathing-she has her spirituality."

She looked at him, shocked, "you-you know about that?"

He chuckles, "yea, I do. My sister is tapped into hers. She was born with it. I was born with something else. It's quite weird if I say so."

Was he going to tell her about the bond? Would any of it make any sense? What if it was actually really scary? What if she wasn't worried about it because it was fooling her into feeling safe? She hoped she wasn't in any kind of danger around him.

"Does it relate to the bond?" She asked, playing with her thumbs.

"Are you sure you want to hear about it now? With your uncle in the hospital?"

"Yes, I need the distraction. But, only if you want to tell me about it. As long as you're sure, then I am all ears." She moves to face him. "I feel like it's the bond, but whatever you tell me, I'll still like you."

He nods and grabs one of her hands, "well, have you ever watched Twilight?" When she nods, he continues, '' Well, first, no, I am not a vampire. No clue if they're even real. But shape shifters are. Like how Jacob was a wolf. My dad passed the gene onto me. The bond is kind of how they imprinted. I, as a wolf, can change whenever I want to, but we don't get the fun 'save the world and kill all the vampires'. The police force here, they know about us. We train with them. When missing people come back, usually it is because they pulled us out for our great sniffers."

Shock hit her like a brick wall. Wolves were real? The police knew, so how bad could they be? She was falling in love with a man who can turn into a wolf on command. That definitely explained the bond. It explained why she trusted him so easily. That was why it felt right.

"The bond, is it like being mates? You find who you're bonded to, and they are the one?" She looked into his eyes.

"Yeah. Now, if you decide to hate what I am, to not want the bond, it would break. What happens if it breaks is beyond me. But that would be for me to find out."

She held his hand in hers, smiling, "thank you. Thank you for telling me, and not sugar coating it or telling me later on." She leaned in to kiss him, but got interrupted by a phone call. "Hello?" She puts the phone on speaker.

"Hey, it's me. They don't know what happened. He's in the ICU right now. They haven't found any weird masses, no cancer, no heart issues, no brain issues. He seems clear. I told them to test his stomach contents, but they refused. Said he seems too healthy for that...which doesn't make much sense. But, I'll keep you updated."

Noah speaks up, "I'm sorry this happened, Annie."

"Thank you for being there for my sister. Talk soon, I love you."

Annie hangs up and Meredith sighs reluctantly. Her uncle could very much be dead, for all they knew. They had him all hooked up. He could be brain dead, which was practically dead. He wouldn't be able to function without assistance, and at that rate, would he really be her uncle?

"He hasn't breathed on his own for well over an hour now, he's probably dead. Annie just doesn't wanna say that. Denial or maybe just high hopes." Tears start falling down her face.

"I'm so sorry, Mer." Noah pulls her into his arms. "Let's go watch a movie, do something to get your mind off of things for a while."

She blankly nods, standing up and grabbing a hold of his hand. He followed beside her up the stairs and into her bedroom. Memories from her childhood start flooding her mind. The games of tag, hide and seek, dress up, and then Robbie's favorite, Skip-Bo.

She crawled into her bed, grabbing her TV remote and opening Netflix. The Vampire Diaries season 1 episode 1. She had already watched the show fully, but this was her comfort show. Noah takes off his shoes and joins her on the bed.

"Come here," he whispers, opening his arms.

She moved into his arms, her head laying on his chest, "thank you."

He kisses her forehead, "no need to thank me, I'm here."
