The Kai's were gathered in the living room. Daikaio and Kita were sitting in chairs near the fireplace reading, while Nishi and Nanami were sitting on the couch. Shin peeked his head out of the room at them. He knew it was late but the questions swarming his head wouldn't let him sleep. He slowly walked towards the Kai's and approached Nishi.

"Nishi?" Shin asked tugging on Nishi's pant leg to get the attention of the young woman.

"Yes sweetie?" Nishi asked turning to the little boy, wondering why he was up so late. Shin looked up at Nishi with a glint of confusion in his eyes.

"What's love?" He asked out of curiosity.

Nishi, though stunned, smiled and knelt to his level, looking into his deep, innocent eyes. "Well, love is a feeling you get when you're around the person who means the most to you and makes you happy." Noticing that Shin still had confusion in his eyes Nishi clarified. "Love happens when you like a person so much that you want to be around them all the time and make them happy."

"But... why do people fall in love?" Shin asked, his innocent voice echoing in the room.

"Because they feel an attraction to each other. And without love you'll start feeling lonely."

"Lonely... But what happens if someone doesn't fall in love? Will they be lonely forever?"

Nishi looked down at the young boy, "Don't worry sweetie. Everyone has a soulmate."

"Hmm... What does love feel like?" Shin asked tilting his head.

Nishi smiled warmly, "When you fall in love, it feels like there's butterflies in your stomach! You'll feel it yourself one day too Shin."

"Butterflies!? I don't want butterflies in my stomach!" Shin exclaimed clutching his stomach.

"Don't worry Shin they're not real butterflies." Nishi chuckled.

"Nishi should you be telling him this at such a young age?" Nanami intervened whispering in her ear.

"He's the one who asked." Nishi shrugged.

"Nishi..." Shin started.

"Hmm? Yes sweetie?" Shin hesitated and fingered the hem of his shirt.

"Come on, spit it out." Nishi prompted.

"Well... um, I was wondering... Can people fall out of love?"

Nishi and Nanami were taken aback by the question but Nishi answered truthfully.

"Yes sweetie, people can fall out of love." Nishi said softly.

"So what if someone falls in love but the other person doesn't love them back?"

"Then they weren't meant to be together, Shin." Nishi stated. Shin tilted his head and asked, "So... how do people fall out of love? And what happens when they do? If someone found their soulmate but they ended up not loving each other after a while, will they always be alone after that?"
