Blitzen nervously replayed the scene in his head over and over... Will you be mine? and Hearth jumps up and down signing yes over and over. Or at least that's what Blitz hoped would happen, the other outcomes he had dreamed up were.. let's just say worse than the first.

Hearth walked into the living room, surprised to see Blitzen not only up but also dressed.

Where are we going?

Blitzen grinned, his boyfriend knew him well.

Turnip Rock, Port Austin, Michigan

His eyes lit up.

I've read about that!

I know.

Hearthstone's eyes went soft and blitzen felt like he would melt out of happiness under his gaze.

You planned it for me?

Blitzen burned up.

Yes, for who else?

Hearth scooped Blitzen up in three long strides and planted a soft kiss on the nape of his neck. He reluctantly let go then remembered where they were going.

I'm going to get dressed!

Blitzen's heart soared as he relished the ability to make Hearthstone so happy, with a simple thing like this.

***

Hearth was so happy, he looked outside the window of the train and felt his heart soar, they only had 20 minutes until he got to visit the place where his favorite book was set, not a single thing could bother him today. Well.. except the nagging feeling in the back of his head that kept telling him the Blitzen was hiding something. He pushed it away, whatever, he was too excited to have time for things like that.

Hearth took Blitz's hand and squeezed it twice, them he was hauled to his feet and saw the doors opening. He was going to jump up and down but if he did he would bang his head on the low ceiling of the train.

Hearth gaped at everything even though he had seen them a million times before, the ticket lady, the doors, even the lamps fascinated him! He felt a tugging on his trouser leg and looked down to see a young boy tears streaming down his face, he kept on making random gestures with his hands, Hearth tried to read his lips but they weren't moving.

Something in Hearthstone's brain clicked. This boy was deaf! He kneeled down next to him and signed to him.

Hello, Do you know any sign?

Yes, my mummy taught me. She said I needed it because my ears didn't work.

Do you know where your mummy is?

No I need help please please please

Alright let me get Blitzen..

He turned around to see Blitz turning round the corner leading a flustered young woman around the age of 20. At the sight of her boy she burst into a flurry of angry signing.

Wheredidyougoyoucouldhavegotyourselfkilled! Oh but I'm glad your safe.

She puffed, then turned to them both. 'Thank you.' Hearthstone nodded and smiled at her, then turned and resumed being fascinated by the floor tiles.

Blitzen felt warm from tip to toe, he had watched the way Hearth had been so gentle with the boy, wiping away his tears with soft fingers. He couldn't wait for the day he could have his own kid with Hearthstone. He looked at Hearth and their eyes met.

Hearth blushed and looked away.  Blitzen took his hand and they rounded a corner, revealing a rock almost floating above the water, balancing on thin part of rock at the bottom. Hearth leaped about 3 meters into the air at the sight of his beloved turnip.

Hearth was ecstatic looking over every part of the rock. Blitzen was so happy, he couldn't explain it. It was like a new emotion altogether. He stared at Hearthstone's back.. his back! He had his back turned now was the time!

He walked over to Hearth and signed against his back.

Close your eyes and give me your right hand.

Hearthstone slowly stuck his hand out. Blitzen took a breath in and slipped out the ring he had spent all these weeks crafting. It was dainty and delicate, but if tested it could withstand pressure and any blade, like Hearthstone. There was only one small gem welded into the metal so it was unnoticeable unless you knew it was there, even in the pitch dark it shimmered from every corner, yet it caught no-one's eye. The color so rich it sent a chill down your spine every time you looked at it without fail, such deep blue-grey, a thousand layers, the longer you looked the more layers unfolded, each releasing a kaleidoscope of colors.

He slipped it onto his ring finger, it fit perfectly, of course it did, Blitzen wouldn't had given it if he wasn't sure. He felt the muscle on Hearth's hand tense as he registered the cool metal, but it didn't recoil, it didn't retract, unlike in all of Blitzen's disasters he had imagined.

Hearthstone spun around and nodded vigorously.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Blitzen felt queasy, but smiled.

I haven't asked yet.

Shut up.

Hearthstone delivered on of those movie kisses that everyone doesn't actually happen, and yet it was happening and nobody could tell Blitzen it was fake.
