Buck awoke to a terrible screech. His eyes flew open and he jumped onto his legs, looking around fearfully. Finally, his eyes rested on Storm, who was thrashing wildly, being dragged away by a powerful looking creature.

The creature was a sandy colour, it had blazing yellow eyes and two large fangs growing from its mouth.

The creature stared at Buck, flattening its ears and let out a terrible hissing noise, before trying to pull Storm faster away.

Buck let out an outraged neigh, scraping the ground, then he charged towards the creature. "LET GO OF HIM!" he screeched, flinging the creature with his head into a palm tree.

It whimpered pitifully, letting go of Storm and running away through the desert.

Aristico had now woken up, looking around wildly. "What's wrong!" she cried, her ears flat against her head.

Buck panted. "Sand sabres." he heaved, shaking himself and meeting his eyes with Aristico.

Aristico's eyes widened furiously. "THOSE BUGGERS!" she barked angrily. "I TOLD YOU!" Then her eyes softened. "Oh Storm are you alright?"

Storm was on the ground. He let out a moan, "I-I'm alright."

Aristico trotted over to him while Buck began to lap water from the oasis. "Rest for a bit Storm, we'll get on the move i-" he paused as something large leaped onto his back. A sand sabre.

It let out a horrid screech as Buck attempted to fling the thing off his back. He looked over at Aristico. She was nipping at another's leg. "LEAVE HIM ALONE!"

Storm was staggering onto his feet to help Aristico. The panic in Storm's eyes turned to pain as he let out a squeal. Another Sand Sabre had gripped onto his hind leg. Storm shook it angrily.

Buck watched this every several seconds, due to his spinning, bucking, and rearing. The Sand Sabre on his back just wouldn't seem to let go, and it hurt, its claws gripping into his skin and dragging down his back.

Buck suddenly had an idea. He fell onto his back and rolled around until he heard the Sand Sabres hissing and screeching stop. He got up and looked at the bloody body of a dead sand sabre.

Buck snorted at it and turned his attention to 3 more sand sabres dashing into the oasis. One was huge. He assumed that was their leader.

Buck charged straight for it then stopped. "Buck, please!" It was Storm. He turned his attention to him. "We need to leave now."

Ignoring the Sand Sabres trying to claw at him he walked over. Aristico was sitting there shivering and bleeding.

Buck's eyes widened. Storm lifted the bloodied dog onto his back, shaking. "RUN!" Buck cried. "I'll be right behind."

Storm nodded and galloped out of the oasis with Aristico.

Buck flung a Sand Sabre off his back and hissed. "YOU WON! I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY!" and galloped after his friends.
