Bucky had woken up from sleeping on the couch again. He had been sleeping on it for weeks, after a mission that had gone south making him think of his family and unborn child.
His wife Shauna was a few months pregnant with their little girl Mia. Both of them were extremely happy and nervous, but Bucky was worried about hurting their daughter on accident, with his left metal arm. Which had been used as a weapon many years prior, a long time before he had met his wife and had fallen in love with her. She was the love of his life, and the light of his whole world. Along with their soon to be daughter.
Bucky sat up running his hand through his sweaty long hair, breathing heavily he remembered everything, so clearly from the mission. The screams and cries, of people that he couldn't help save and one of them was a child. He couldn't bare the thought, or shake the feeling of that one day being his family and it terrified him.
He got up off the couch and went straight, to the bathroom that was upstairs connected to the bedroom. He glanced briefly at his beautiful wife, that was very beautiful to him. She most definitely was a gift from God, along with their unborn daughter Mia. Who was due in a few months time. Looking at himself in the mirror, seeing the sweat so clearly on his bare skin. Bucky started to think about what happened, on that mission that had haunted him for weeks now.
The nightmare/memory.
"Buck we need to help these people get out of here, before it explodes!" The voice of Steve shouted, trying to help the people get out of a hydra trafficking ring, whom had taken innocent children and people against their will.
Buck was helping the people get out to safety, but the base was starting to explode and catch fire. "Buck what are you doing. Bucky!" Steve shouted, as his best friend ran inside to help safe children that were still inside along with adults. That we're trapped in there as well.
Bucky ran in trying to save the people, he made it to the room that they were in. Trying to break down the door and nearly succeeded, when some of the ceiling had fallen and knocked him away from the door. Making him hit a wall.
Bucky grunted as he hit the wall, sliding down it slightly with his vision slightly going. With his blurring vision, he watched as the room collapsed along with the building around him. "No!" He shouted, seeing images of his pregnant wife being there in the room, as the building collapsed dropping something on his lower half pinning him. The last thing he remembered, was hearing distant shouting and yelling of his name. Before feeling Steve helping him out of there completely. He remembered waking up in the med bay with a concussion, a fractured pelvic area and the memory of what had happened.
End of memory.
Bucky angrily shouted, punching the mirror breaking it into pieces. With his left metal arm, watching as it broke into pieces. With the pieces of it ending up at his bare feet, on the floor. Unknowingly to him though he had woken up his sleeping wife, on accident, whom had only gotten to sleep a hour to two hours ago. Due to their daughter being very active, not allowing her to get much sleep.
Shauna gasped softly, as she woke up with a start, hearing the mirror in the bathroom breaking along with Bucky yelling in anger. She quickly turned on the bedside light, before getting up carefully, after putting on her glasses. She held her stomach carefully, as she rubbed it gently trying to comfort Mia, as she moved and kicked in her belly. "Baby?" She asked softly, as she nudged the bathroom door open.
She frowned, seeing the broken glass on the floor and Bucky standing there with his bare back to her, that was full of sweat. She Shauna noticed him breathing heavily, while standing there not saying anything, she could see his back shaking slightly and hearing his whispers of I couldn't save them.
"James." Shauna said softly, as she opened the door more watching out for the broken glass, from the mirror. She walked over to him. Gently yet hesitantly, sitting her hand on his metal shoulder gently. Knowing that when he was like this, it was a risk to touch him because he would normally warn her not to touch him, when he's in this state. In fear of hurting her, especially with her now being pregnant with their little girl Mia.
Bucky turned to look at his wife, with a wide sad look, before relaxing knowing that it was just her. He didn't know what to say, as he just started to break down crying. Blaming himself for what had happened, and for not being fast enough to save those people. "Their dead because of me. I couldn't save them or you." He sobbed, letting his wife wrap her arms around him holding him close. "I'm sorry."
Shauna fighting back her own tears, gently stroked his hair and the top of his head, or tried too. As she tried to help sooth him. "Shh..none of this is your fault James. I know you blame yourself, but none of this is on you. Me and Mia are safe. Hydra is not gonna take us from you, I promise you. God would allow for that to happen, and neither will I. I'm so sorry James. I'm so sorry." She said over and over, as her own tears fell knowing that all she could do was comfort her loving husband, not sure what else she could do besides comfort him and be there for him.
