📍: Xavier's Apartment
The walk to my apartment was dead silent as we both continued to hold on to our pettiness and not say a word to each other. When we reached my door, I used the keys to unlock it, kicking the door open, letting Imani walk through it first.
Imani had her arms folded and her lips poked out as she made a beeline for my living room sofa, plopping down on it to just cross her legs too, glaring a the blank screen.
Two can play that game.
After shutting the door and locking it, I kicked off my shoes, then peeled off each layer of my clothes, tossing them into the washing machine to begin a load.
I'm tired, my voice is hoarse, and my feet hurt. I just want to clean myself up and lay my ass down and address this shit from tonight, tomorrow.
On the way to my bedroom, I stopped to look at Imani still staring a the blank ass screen lookin' like fool, and she turned her head towards me, suckin' her teeth, rollin' her neck and eyes and said:
Imani: Are we gonna play this silent game or should I go home?
I ain't want to her leave, but I ain't want to stop being petty just yet either, so I just played into her weak ass attempt to break the silence by shrugging my shoulders non-chalantly, in a dry tone and said:
Xavier: I ain't got shit to say, just like you didn't Imani.
Imani turned her head back to the blank screen, running her fingers through her hair to avoid eye contact with me, as she crossed feet bouncing them in the air, trying to soothe her nerves away. In the next moment, she said in a less defensive tone:
Imani: I didn't think they were serious Xavier.. I didn't want to bother y'all.. That's why I didn't text you that BS.
I took a deep breath looking up at the ceiling, frustrated. The point is not whether or not she believed they would do it, its the fact that she didn't bother to tell me at all. I exhaled dramatically, trying to lighten my voice a tad bit and said:
Xavier: Well they was and some shit really could have happened to you Imani. You clearly don't see me as your man so you can walk home I guess..
