soonyoung was sure of one thing: he was really going to miss teaching at the university. not even entirely because he knew he would miss seeing chan every day. he would miss seeing vernon and chan joking around during practice. he would also miss sneaking into seungkwan's classes and bothering his best friend (he would always act annoyed but soonyoung knew the young boy was happy to see him).

maybe he would miss the kids, as well.

and as soonyoung rounded the team up and announced that he would be leaving at the end of the school year, he felt a heavy weight on his chest as he listened to their loud whines. he watched with a sad smile as chan and vernon tried to calm the group down, the youngest of the team ignoring them as they ran to soonyoung and engulfed him into a group hug.

donghyuck, one of jisung's close friends in the club, turned to the young boy, a look of question on his face as he saw his friend wasn't upset. "jisung, why aren't you sad?" he asked.

jisung glanced at soonyoung nervously, an awkward smile on his face as he said, "i, uh–  he told me already?"

donghyuck turned to soonyoung, a look of disbelief on his face as he said, "really? you told jisung?"

"okay, screw you, man."

vernon laughed awkwardly as he scratched his head. "i mean, i hate to be that guy, but he said he was the temporary instructor literally his first day here."

chan shook his head as he gently tapped vernon's chest with the back of his hand. "no, he only told us that."

upon hearing chan's statement, the team turned to look at soonyoung with a glare. the oldest chuckled lightly, holding his hands up in surrender as he said, "my bad. but there's still three months left of school. let's just enjoy it while it lasts, okay?"

the team reluctantly agreed, slowly retreating to their starting positions as they chattered amongst themselves. soonyoung shot vernon a look and the boy nodded in understanding. vernon coughed loudly, attracting the attention of the group as he loudly asked, "so, what's next for you, hyung?"

soonyoung laughed obnoxiously, waving the boy off as he said, "ah, hansol. what a coincidence!" he glanced at chan and saw the boy hiding his face in embarrassment. this only motivated him to continue. "well, starting in the fall, i am officially opening my own dance studio! and, while i already have some clients lined up–"

vernon coughed loudly, not at all subtle as he said in between his coughs, "your own friends."

"yes. thank you, hansol." soonyoung laughed awkwardly, shooting a pointed glare at his young friend before he turned back to the group and continued. "as i was saying, you're all welcome to stop by whenever. also, if any of you were looking to join, that would be cool, too." he finished, a subtle blush dusting his cheeks as he looked at the ground.

"nice promo, hyung." chan said with a laugh, covering his mouth with his hand as his shoulders shook.

soonyoung rolled his eyes as he stuck his tongue out at his boyfriend. he looked back at the group and clapped his hands, a bright smile on his face as he said, "okay, enough of that! since this is our first practice after the competition and spring break, i've decided to just let everyone rest today. you're also free to leave whenever you want."

the group glanced around at each other in surprise. vernon chuckled slightly as he said, "really?"

soonyoung nodded earnestly, a warm smile on his face as he looked around at the kids. "yeah. you guys have worked so hard these past few weeks, and i know exams will be coming soon. so, for today, you can do whatever you want. if you want to sit down and watch jisung pop and lock for the next few hours, then that's fine by me."
