Title: 1.Spin The Bottle.
At the party, you felt more like a spectator than the star of the show, particularly since it was your first time hanging out with the international students. Everyone seemed engrossed in their own little worlds, leaving you to figure out how to blend in with the crowd.
You found yourself sitting with a group of girls, all thanks to your friend Mei bringing you along. Now, Mei is usually the quiet type, much like yourself. But put her in a crowd, and she transforms into a social dynamo, effortlessly engaging in conversations and laughter. Watching her in her element was fascinating, especially as you tried to find your own way into the chat.
"So then, he dumps me right after I start seeing his friend," Mei blurts out, her laughter a bit too loud, merging with the room's buzz of conversations and chuckles.
"Mei, don't you think that's enough soju for you?" you quip, half-joking, half-concerned, as you attempt to take her glass. But she holds on surprisingly tightly, making it difficult for you to wrestle it away.
The girls next to you have been following the exchange between Mei and you, but their attention shifts as a group of guys walks in. They're not part of your circle, nor do they seem to be from your university. They look slightly older than you.
One of the girls, clearly taken with the new arrivals, beckons them over.
"Over here," she calls out, pointing to a vacant space next to Mei and you.
"Uh, I'm not sure if that's a good idea," you begin to object, but you're cut off by one of the guys who reassures, "Don't worry, we're harmless." He starts passing around beers, handing one to each of you. You're not much for drinking, and you're also worried about Mei, who might already be too drunk for the walk back to the dorm.
Quickly grabbing your bag, you excused yourself from the table, firmly clutching Mei by your side.
As you headed out the door, you accidentally bumped into two men. They were dressed casually but strikingly handsome, maybe even too handsome, definitely out of your league. "I'm sorry," you said, catching a brief glimpse of one man who had noticed you first. He was wearing a hood over his grey hoodie. "No need to apologize, but..." he started, glancing down as he realized you were stepping on his shoe. Looking down, you quickly shifted your foot away from his sneaker. You let out a soft gasp and, finding a napkin while rummaging through your bag, you gently wiped the dirt off his shoe.
"Just forget it, I'm already having a fucked-up day," he said with calmness in his voice, but there was an undertone of rudeness in his response as well.
"Yah... Joo Hyuk, no need to be rude to the lady. Let's just go, they're waiting for us," one of his friends chimed in, looping an arm around his shoulder.
The two men turned to enter the pub, leaving you and Mei outside. You couldn't help but scoff and, in a moment of frustration, you gave him the middle finger. Unfortunately, he had hawk-like vision and caught your gesture.
"Is he stalking me?" you wondered, taking a shortcut through an empty alley that was close to your dorm. Mei, tipsily talking to herself, zigzagged beside you, her heels clicking on the wet concrete. Once inside the dorm, you helped your friend change and took off her heels. "You really need to stop drinking, Mei," you sighed, looking over at her in her bed across from yours. She was snoring heavily, as if she hadn't slept in days.
Closing your eyes, you found yourself eagerly looking forward to the morning sunrise, welcoming a new day filled with promise and the opportunity for a fresh beginning.
The next morning felt like déjà vu for you, just another day in the life of an almost-senior in college. Being on campus was becoming increasingly overwhelming, especially with the frequent reprimands for being late to your major-specific classes. It had gotten to the point where your grades were starting to slip. Fortunately, you had managed to start studying with a tutor. While on your way to a cinematic photography class, you noticed a group of people laughing and chatting around a poster. True to your curious nature, you took a closer look and saw it was a surfing poster featuring five people - three guys and two girls. One of the guys looked incredibly familiar to you. Pointing at the poster, you suddenly realized who it was and blurted out, "That jerk!" In an instant, you found yourself the focus of everyone's attention.
