My Childhood Friend Can't Be My Girlfriend

Chapter 3

*beep* *beep*

"Hmm...?"

I woke up from the alarm and when I saw the clock it was 6:30 in the morning. I scratch my head as if still floating. In my head I keep thinking about yesterday's events and I still feel that all of it was a dream. I yawned loudly...man I wasn't able to sleep because of yesterday. I mean how can I? It was an unbelievable moment and it made me become closer to my childhood friend!!...was what I thought was suppose to happen but that wasn't the case.

When I went out of the house, I saw Hana walking past my house. I tried to call her but she looked at me for a bit then looked away as if ignoring me...Is she mad at me? Well I could understand that she wouldn't want to see me after those embarrassing events that occured last night. So I relunctantly stopped calling her and just went to school on my own.

While walking to school someone tapped my back which made me look and it was my close friend Mami Kanzaki.

"Yo, what's up?"

"Hmm...why aren't you with Hana right now? You always go to class together."

"Well some things have happened and it ended up with me being ignored by her."

"Hmm...is that so...by the way Happy Birthday!! Here's your present."

"Whoa!! I totally forgot it was my birthday."

I was lost in thought all night yesyerday that I ended up forgetting it was my birthday today. My birthday is at Decmber 13 by the way.

"Thanks a lot Mami chan."

"It's nothing...say Chrismas is near isn't it?"

"Do you have qny plans on the 24th"

"Hmm none really"

"Is that so...well then let's have a party then!!"

Hmm a party huh...well I don't really have anything to do on the 24th. I mean it's not like I have a girlfriend or have any part time jobs. I wish that Hana would be there to...

"Of course I'll invite Hana too, so do your best Takkun."

As she aaid that she grinned and I replied with a fist pump implying that I will do my best. After that she went ahead of me to class and I was left looking at the streets that are being set up for the Christmas season.

"Okay...let's make this year end wonderfully."

As I said to myself as to encourage myself in making my dream of going out with Hana come true.

It is often said that when someone doesn't want to talk to you means that they are pissed at you but what if you think that you've never done anything wrong? I'm having this dilema as I try to talk to Hana who either avoids me or ignores me throughout class time. I'm starting to think if I did anything or said something wrong yesterday...but nothing comes to mind.

"Why *munch*not just *munch* give it up for the day?"

Mami said as she was eating fries. By the way since Hana ended up having club activities again I had to go alone but I didn't feel like it and coincidently I was asked by Mami to come with her to which she made me treat her fries. This brings us to our current situation...

"Ugh...what do I do? Today's my birthday too and she gets in a bad mood today of all days."

I slouched as if showing how depressed I really am to which Mami finds annoying from the looks of her face.

"I don't think *munch* she hates you though."

"But what other reason could it be?"

"Don't ask me? Find out for yourself I'm leaving hmph..."

*Smack*
She said that as she threw the tray aiming my head as she stood up looking quite angry and she left while her face looked quite pissed. She said something before she left though

"There's definitely a reason why she's acting that way, you don't understand a woman's heart."

I didn't quite understand what that meant but I will keep in mind her words. I stood up from my seat and headed off too.

Hmm now that I think about it how come Mami invited me to come with her without asking anything about Hana...hmm weird I'm starting to feel like something's about to happen...

I finally reached home and as I opened the door some confetti came out and surprised me...

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!"

It was a surprise party...at my home at that...when I looked around I saw my friends from class and there they were Mami and Hana...it sort of makes sense now how Mami has been acting a bit different than usual. I wasn't expecting to see Hana though since I thought that she's ignoring me.

"Come on in and let's start this party!!"

Mami said as she pulled me into coming in my home. I'm honestly happy though I wonder who planned this...

"It's Hana who planned this."

Mami whispered to me as if she read my mind and answered me. Hana huh...why would she do that yet ignoring me for the whole day? Well no need to think deeply about it and just be happy right now.

"Thanks for coming. Well then let's start this birthday party!!"

I said to rile up the people...

So the party started and we had a lot of fun chatting and playing games. I was really happy that I have such wonderful friends...after a while, I guess 2 hours passed and my classmates started leaving unti only I and Hana were left in the house.

"Hana, I would like to thank you for doing this for me."

I said happily and Hana looked at me

"Well it's you're birthday and..."

It looks like she wanted to say something but stopped halfway. I'm really happy though that she would throw me a party.

"Hey here's your present..."

"Hmm? Really? Can I open it?"

"Suit yourself..."

A present? I'm so happy right now. When I opened it I found out that the gift was the one I picked out for her when we had a date(well I thought it was). So is that why she wouldn't tell me? That made a lot of sense now that I think about it.

"So do you lIke it?"

"Of course!"

I'm not sure if I was seeing things but I saw her smiling a bit. Maybe it's my imagination but oh well she gave me a gift which I will treasure. It's actually a while since I received a gift from her and also that surprise party, I'm so happy right now!

After that Hana went back to her place and my birthday ended with wonderful memories.
