Uru's POV

The pride lands have nearly fully returned to normal. The herds are back, along with water and the land is green again. When Zira returned with her hunting party. She was shocked to see Simba and find out my father is dead. Simba banished her and her pride from the pride lands. When they refused to change their hunting ways.

I have no idea what happened to Tama. She wasn't with them and there were no newborn cubs. But Dotty, Spotty and their mother weren't with the others either. Nuka was and I tried to get him to stay. But he wouldn't leave his mother. I respect that.

Anyway, Nala and Zoe got pregnant. Nala to Simba and Zoe to a rogue male. They both had girls. Nala had one, Kiara. Zoe had two, Tiifu and Zuri. All are beautiful and healthy. Today Kiara is being presented to the herds as the future queen of Pride Rock. She'll be the first born queen since my adoptive grandmother, Uru. Who I am named after. Who knows, maybe she'll fall for a rogue like her great grandmother did. I think that'd kill Simba.

My girls are all growing well. Thanks to the plentiful food and water supply. They love exploring the pride lands. Though baby sitters are never far away and they always stick together. Kiburi the most adventuress of the lot. Rozi would rather nap all day. Malkia is sort of the leader, she makes sure the other two don't bat heads to much. With their conflicting personalities. She'd be a fine mother one day. But that's a few years away, right now I plan on enjoying them being cubs as much as possible.

"Hey mum, how come Kiara is future queen?" Rozi asks as we watch the herds gather for the presentation. "Shouldn't that be Malkia?" she asks.

"Why would it be me?" Malkia asks confused.

"You're the oldest and have royal blood" Kiburi reminds her.

"Actually, I was adopted by the kings brother and while yes my mother was a queen of another pride. Her title means nothing here" I tell them. "Kiara is Simba's first born and he is the king. He's first born is next in line to the throne" I state. "Usually it'd be first born male, but Kiara is a strong and fierce cub. She'll make a fine queen one day and I expect you all to respect & help her" I tell them.

"Yes mum" they say together.

"Oh it's starting" Malkia cheers as the herds begin to sing. We're joined by the rest of the pride. We have lost a few members to age. Sarabi's sisters and Estel. But the rest are still here. Though it may not be long until what is left of the pride I was born into passes on. Only the newest members with remain. I pray Zira does not see it as an opportunity to attack.

Anyway, back to the presentation. Nala and Simba approach Rafiki, Nala carrying Kiara by the scruff. Rafiki embraces Simba and Nala. Then gently takes Kiara into his arms. He holds Kiara up in the air. Below, the Pride Landers erupt into cheers. "Kiara!" he declares and we lioness roar our approval of our future queen.

Kiara swats at the milkweed floss that is being carried on the breeze. I chuckle, she is full of spirit and will make a fine queen. Rafiki lowers Kiara and marks her forehead with red jucie from a fruit. Nala and Simba take turns nuzzling Kiara. Who mews happily.

"Mum, can we go see her?" Malkia asks.

"Of course" I tell her and get up. I head over to the proud parents as the herds disperse below. I see Timon and Pumba also going over to congratulate Simba. I was unsure of them in the beginning, but they are quiet entertaining.

"I'm telling ya, buddy, it's gonna be like old times. You, me, and the little guy" Timon brags.

"Kiara's a girl" my girls tell him.

"They're right" Rafiki says with a chuckle.

"Girl" Timon says with a smile. Timon and Pumba look at each other in exaggerated shock. They scream 'girl' and faint. Making my girls laugh.

"Congratulations you two" I tell Simba and Nala.

"Thanks Uru" Simba says with a proud smile.

"Who knows, maybe you'll have another" Nala states.

"No thanks, three is my limit" I tell her with a chuckle. "Though you two could always have another" I suggest.

"No way in hell!" Nala exclaims. "If Simba wants another, he can push it out himself!" she snaps. We all laugh.

"Don't worry Nala, I am happy with our beautiful feisty princess" Simba assures her. A Kiara swipes at another milkweed. We all chuckle.

"Hey mum, can we go to the watering hole?" Kiburi asks.

"To far" Rozi whines.

"Where's your sense of adventure?" Kiburi asks her.

"I will escort them Uru" Zazu volunteers as he joins us.

"Thank you Zazu" I say. "Now girls do as Zazu says and keep Pride Rock in view at all times" I tell them.

"Yes mum" they say and race off. Zazu takes off after them.

"They grow up to fast" I state. "Cherish the time you have with her this young Nala" I tell her. I nuzzle Kiara and smile down at her. "I'll see you guys later" I state and head for the top of pride rock. "Mufasa, you there?" I ask as I lay down looking up at the sky.

"What is it Uru?" he asks as I feel the breeze encircle me.

"I worry about Zira and her pride. What if they attack?" I ask him.

"You are all strong and can handle them" he states.

"But not without great lose" I tell him. "We were lucky with father and the hyenas" I state. "Simba thinks we have nothing to worry about, but I do" I tell him.

"You have told him your concerns and have been training your daughters to be able to defend themselves since they could walk. You are doing all you can to prepare for an attack that may never come" he states. "I am proud of the lioness you have become and love you as my own. Continue to watch over Simba for me" he says and I feel his presence leave. I sigh resting my head on my paws. Guess I'm in this alone.
