(Imagine that the back of the cafe windows is snowing.)

"Welcome to the Spring Cafe where it is always Spring!" announced the lady at the register with a toothy smile. Destiny decided since she had a free period at around 8:00 am, she could swing by the popular cafe that Sypha, wanted her to come along but...she had to go to another class super early about magical spells. Yet, she promised to buy her a drink from here as compensation for being a good roommate. It's been almost a week since she started attending the Academy, and she couldn't be happier and sadder. On the bright side, she made friends and is excelling in her grades even if a certain distracts her whenever she gets too deep, it was funny. On the dark side, she tried video chatting with her mother but she wouldn't respond so she got in the 'whatever mood'. As she was about to sit down she spotted a familiar face, she felt her heart quicken at the sight of the blonde man across from her. Adrian looked elegant as always he wore a long dark-sleeved button-down shirt showing his neatly pressed pants and sword by his side leaning against the table while his face was relaxed as he was reading one of the rented books from the library it read, 'Hamlet.'

Destiny remembered they must have a book rental system back at the Academy, but she didn't know where to do that. So she went to sit on the corner of the cafe, sat down as she waited for her order she took another shy glance towards him again only this time...he caught her in his golden eyes. She flushed in embarrassment as she panicked trying to cover her face with a giant plant in front of her and shoved herself to hide while Adrian quietly burst out laughing at her embarrassed state and started walking towards her. Destiny checked again to see if he had left but unfortunately, he whispered so close to her ear,

"What were you looking at, Destiny?"

She almost jolted away from him as he smiled at her. Destiny was not a happy camper, as she began pouting at him for scaring her, "W-well I don't know what you're talking about!"

"Des' I know you can't lie to me with this face, right??" he teased pointing at himself with a smile as he chuckled and leaned away from her half-crouched position. She got up from her position and stood in front of him now face to face, she cleared her throat as she began to calm down,

"I cannot answer that!"

"Oh, are you sure you don't want me to continue teasing~"

"Not...happening."

They stood there for a minute until they burst out laughing in the background the waiters found them so adorable one commented out loud,

"They seem to get each other so well!"

Both Adrian and Destiny looked away as they heard the staff members talking about them (they both had good hearing). They were both blushing as Adrian smiled and asked,

"May I join you?"

Destiny could only nod yet she found her courage to follow his movements, as she then began to notice many things he had. His long hair glistened under the arched glass windows as the sun sent rays of light against it while the snow started falling, and his porcelain skin looked as smooth as marble. His long lashes brushed slowly until his eyes met her again making her get caught again.

"So why did you look so down just now, Destiny?" wondering since he first noticed her. He knew she came to this cafe whenever Sypha was busy and Trevor was a dummy in front of them, it pained him that Trevor would try to woo both newfound friends because if he did he'd come after him.

"It's...my mother. It's unusual for her to be this busy if she only has to clean the garden and make sure to eat her pills after eating. How hard can it be when your mother won't answer her daughter's call when they both agreed to chat when one of us is free no matter the case? And yet," she takes a deep breath looking at him, "Why must he take so long to answer?"

"Would your mother be...courting someone?" Adrian shrugs his head to the side

Destiny looked baffled at the same time staring at his way of words, "Courting??? I haven't heard anyone in our generation use that term in years."

Adrian sweatdropped fake laughing lightly as if not to draw suspicion. 'I better watch what I say if I don't I won't be able to live with it' he thought to himself as he waited for her to continue. So he spoke again,

"In all seriousness, would it be by any chance... galavant without her husband?"

Destiny widened her eyes astonished at what he said, as she blurted out, "No, of course not my mother would never cheat on him even in death."

There was silence Adrian began, "I apologize, I assumed your parents were..."

"No, no it's not yourself I should have stopped rambling about my problems in the first place; besides it must be uncomfortable for you," she cuts him off before he could apologize as she looked down sadly, "My father and my mother made a promise that if...one day if they were to be parted away in death then neither of them would do so yet, I find myself thinking could there be a way for two lovers to fall in love without falling apart in the process?"

The silence grew again as the waitress brought her order saying, "One cup of hot chocolate with marshmallow and one cup of freshly brewed coffee!"

"Thank you," responded Destiny with a smile while the waitress went to take over someone else's orders. Adrian began to say,

"When two lovers fall in love...it is hard to keep promises you can't keep in the beginning of their relationship. But when that love is so strong you would never even think twice about it."

His eyes went down staring at the cup he had as he reminisced down memory lane while Destiny watched him and thought again why she was doubting her mother of all people, 'I'm a terrible person did I even think that?' "I don't deserve this...why do I feel this way towards the only person that was there for me when I was small?"

Adrian looked up and said, "I don't have an answer for that but...if I were you I would be grateful to have a mother that loves you no matter how hard it is to accept an absent parent."

He stood up and flicked her forehead making me reach up to my forehead rubbing the slight pain his strength showed. I then smiled, grateful for his sincere advice, 'Damn I must have needed an ear for my rambles' I thought to myself and said, "Well..." I cleared my throat feeling my cheeks blush at the mere sight of him, "I shall head out now...I wouldn't want Sypha's drink to get cold since it's still early January."

Adrian gave a silent chuckle as he instantly grabbed my coat and his from the coat rack helping me put it on while using magic to help me.

"Every hour I'm with you time seems to stop whenever I start talking to you..." he stared at me for a while making contact with his shiny golden eyes making my cerulean eyes glitter in a mixer of blue, forming into something inside my brain telling me a message yet, I can't understand it.

"No matter what time or day, if you ever need me I will be right here waiting for you preparing for any advice I can give you to lift your spirits. What do you say, Destiny?" when he finished I was beyond overjoyed and overwhelmed by the fact that I would have a perfect stranger following and guiding me on this beautiful quest we call life.

"Sure." I smile with warm butterflies fluttering on my stomach.
