Rosie couldn't remember the last time she had felt like this. It was rare for her to argue with her wife before the accident. It was even rarer for them to go to sleep still upset and angry. Her mother tried to talk to her but she didn't want to hear it. Right now she just wanted to sleep. She was exhausted and she knew when Ella did wake, she'd need all her attention.
Claire sighed and sat with her husband in the hospital lobby. "I tried." She says shaking her head.
"Just give her the night. Why don't we all head home for the night? We could all use a good night's sleep." Mason says.
Everyone nodded in agreement and went home.
Jennie slammed the car door and walked towards the front door to her house. She let out a string of mumbled curse words as she fumbled with the set of keys.
"Jennie-" Jisoo says putting a hand on her shoulder
"Don't." Jennie snapped as she pulled away with Jisoo and threw the front door open.
Lisa looked at her wife concerned. Jisoo shook her head and walked in after her sister. The house alarm beeped letting you know that you needed to input the code before it set the system off. She walked over to it and had no clue what the code was. She realized Rosie had always armed and disarmed it. She rubbed her temples trying to remember it but couldn't. She clenched her jaw as tears streamed down her face. She couldn't even remember a six-digit code.
"Let me," Jisoo says gently as she moved Jennie out of the way and punched in the code.
Jennie wrapped her arms around herself and walked towards the kitchen. She pulled out a bottle of wine and a wine opener. She took out the cork and looked at Jisoo with a questioning look.
Jisoo nodded and took a seat on the barstool.
"Lisa?" Jennie asked as she moved to grab wine glasses
Lisa shook her head. "I'm okay thank you. I'm going to go shower and sleep." She says.
They both nodded to her and Lisa headed upstairs to one of the guest rooms. Jennie poured glasses for both of them and then slammed hers back. She went to pour another for herself. Jisoo sat in silence while watching Jennie drink. She didn't know how to approach her right now. She'd never seen this type of behavior. But clearly, Jennie was upset.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Jisoo asks after clearing her throat
"What is there to talk about?" Jennie says as she swirled the wine in the glass before downing it.
She went to grab the wine bottle again but Jisoo put her hand over her sisters.
"Slow down," Jisoo says.
"I'm fine," Jennie says as she pulled the bottle away from the older girl and poured another glass.
"You're not and that wine isn't going to fix what is wrong," Jisoo says.
"Maybe I don't want to fix it," Jennie says quietly before setting the bottle on the counter.
"You don't mean that," Jisoo says.
"Who are we kidding here Jisoo? I'm not her. I can't do this. This thing where I pretend I am. It's not working." Jennie says.
"Nobody is asking you-" Jisoo goes to say before being cut off
"But you are! Everyone is. They are all looking to me to have answers in these meetings. People are pointing and talking about me everywhere I go. I'm constantly being compared to her and it's not fair. I didn't ask for this!" Jennie says, her voice reaching an octave higher than usual as she slammed her fist down on the counter
