Ella had been discharged from the hospital a week ago. She left in her little gorilla shirt with a smile on her face as she clutched onto her mother's curls and rested her head on her shoulder. Jennie had been doing better. She no longer needed the leg brace. She had been working through physical therapy since she had been discharged herself from the hospital. She felt good. Stronger. She had started to actually workout again. Apparently she used to do that before the accident. The house was quiet this particular morning as Jennie packed her things into a suitcase. Rosie was in Ella's room collecting clothes and a few of her must-have toys.
Jisoo said a driver was being sent to collect them soon and they would meet on the airstrip. They would be taking the company's private jet. Rosie couldn't help being sick to her stomach at the thought of both of them leaving. What if something happened? What if Jennie decided she was happier alone?
She had never been without Ella for more than a few hours. This trip was supposed to be two weeks long. Rosie felt sad at the prospect of being alone in this giant house for two weeks. Jennie would miss their anniversary. Not that she would really remember such a thing. Everything just felt so wrong and she didn't know what to do. If there was anything she could do. Ella was rolling around on the floor with her toys while Rosie finished packing her things.
"Come on baby. Let's get you cleaned up and changed. Your ride will be here soon." Rosie says
Ella whined "No." She says
"You're going on the airplane. You love to fly on the plane with momma." Rosie says trying to cheer her up.
"You go on airplane too?" Ella asks
"Not this time baby," Rosie says sadly
Ella made a pouting face. Rosie scooped her up and kissed her cheek. She got her settled in the bathtub and cleaned her up while the girl played with her toys.
"Rosie?" Jennie called out from down the hall.
"In here," Rosie called back.
"The driver is here," Jennie says coming in the bathroom
"Okay, just give me a couple of minutes," Rosie says as she finished washing their daughter.
"Is her bag set?" Jennie asked.
Rosie nodded as she wiped frantically at the tears that started to fall down her face.
"What's wrong?" Jennie asked softly.
"It's just... she's always been with me since she was born Jen. I know it seems silly but I'm going to miss her." Rosie says
Jennie's face fell "She can stay if you would feel better about it." She says.
She felt awful taking Ella from Rosie if she was always with her.
Rosie shook her head "No. I think this would be good for you both. I'll be okay." She says
Jennie nodded and she left to go get the luggage downstairs and handed it off to their driver. Rosie got Ella out of the tub and brought her back into her room to get her changed. They fought for a few minutes over the tiny socks and shoes. Ella was always a pain to dress. She would run around naked all the time if they let her. She picked her up along with her tiny pink backpack that had some snacks and her learning play pad in it.
She walked out the front door and saw Jennie was transferring the car seat into the vehicle. Jennie looked at the car seat with knitted brows. She had no clue how to secure this thing into the car. "Baby, let me do it." Rosie says
Jennie held out her arms and took Ella and her backpack. Rosie made quick work of getting the car seat secured. She stepped aside and Jennie put Ella in the seat carefully.
