Y/n's View

I hear a knock on the door and I open it.

"Hey." Tate says.

I smile and hug her.

There's something about Tate that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. It almost feels as though I'm catching feelings, which is very new considering I would never be allowed to date a woman if I was still in the 70s.

"I want you to come with me to the studio." Tate says.

"For what?" I ask.

"I think you could have a promising music career. You could be the next Taylor." Tate says.

"James Taylor?" I ask.

"Right, right, after your time... way after it." Tate mumbles.

"What is with all these gray hairs, they're multiplying or something." Tate says.

"I feel a lot older too. My hip started hurting for no reason today." I say.

"Maybe all those years you missed are finally catching up to you. Aren't you like 70?" Tate says.

"69." I say.

"Damn!" Tate says, laughing.

"I'm sorry." Tate says as I frown.

Time Skip

"Let me play you something and you tell me if you like it." Tate says.

"Okay." I say.

Music starts to play and I scrunch my nose.

"You don't like it?" Tate asks.

"This fucking sucks." I say.

"This song was on a Grammy winning album." Tate says.

"Really? What song is it?" I ask.

"Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo, it was on her debut album, Sour. It's a classic." Tate says.

"Classics have to be good, this is, uh, boring." I say as she rolls her eyes.

"Uh, play some 70s. Billy Joel, Elton John, Elvis, something retro - type shit." I say.

"When did you learn that phrase? Type shit?" She asks typing.

"Max taught me it. It means I want that kind of thing." I say.

"Yeah, I know. Listen to this." She says.

Music starts to play and I nod my head.

"You like it?" She asks.

I hum and she smiles.

3 hours later...

Music starts to play and I hum.

"Cause I don't gotta tell you twice, but you know this ain't right. Cause we ain't gotta start no fights. And we don't gotta figure out why. So tell me what you mean when you wanna keep it clean. Black Converse and some stained baggy jeans. Why you talk nice, but you so mean? Conversation is all I need." Music plays.

"Way better than that garbage you played me." I say, as Tate pauses the music.

"I hate to say it but you just brought the 70s back." Tate says.

"We never left, baby." I say.

"I think you should release it. It'll appeal to the older and younger audience." She says.

"But Tucker said I have to lie low." I say.

"Just don't use your name, use an alias. Like... 5StarY/n. It's modern and not that hard to remember." She says.
