❝LET'S PART WAYS.❞_________________________________________
Wooyoung reaches home before San, luckily. He wasted his whole day at the studio, dancing his heart out, exhausting his body to such an extent that all the thoughts about his "good for them" decision had vanished from his mind.
He enters and unfortunately for him, Hongjoong catches him before he can lock himself in his room. "Wooyoung, come here." He calls out, the younger internally groans but obliges anyway.
"Stay here and wait for San to come home. You need to sort this shit up." Hongjoong demands. It wasn't a request at all, he wouldn't take any excuse Wooyoung had prepared if this type of situation would arise- it did arise way too early though.
Wooyoung wasn't ready to face San just yet. It hasn't even been 24 hours since he dropped the bomb on his feelings.
But he was also reminded about the fact that tomorrow they have a group shoot and they can't ignore each other. Maybe this conversation will save them some awkwardness tomorrow so despite his unprepared heart, he agrees to sort things out.
The members had already joined the living room when the sudden click of the main door was heard. Wooyoung's heart was palpating faster and faster as the sound of footsteps became more prominent.
Their eyes made eye contact, unspoken words were conversed, and visible pain was evident on their faces. It was not until Wooyoung took his eyes off of San that the older looked at their leader, the one who had not sat down since Wooyoung had entered.
"I think you both know why this meeting is taking place. Talk it out, in front of us. Your decision affects everything and everyone in this group." Their leader spat, his voice authoritative. Seonghwa gave him a 'Are you sure?' look but he ignored his roommate's glances.
Yunho and Mingi were sitting beside each other, coddling on the sofa. Jungho was sitting on the single chair while Yeosang dangled at the edge of the three-person sofa, keeping a safe distance from Wooyoung. Seonghwa and Hongjoong were standing up and San decided to sit in front of his lover.
The silence was loud, none of them saying anything. Not a single glance was spared at each other. Wooyoung's throat had dried up while San was fiddling with his fingers, his tears threatening to come back upon looking at the ever-so-beautiful boy in front of him.
The others didn't say anything, their breaths were abnormally quiet as if they were afraid of making any sounds. They didn't wanna push them to talk, no, that would be too cruel but they were also growing impatient at their sealed mouths.
Until San finally speaks, breaking the dreading silence. "The thing you said yesterday..." He started, capturing Wooyoung's eyes in his own, oh no. He is way too weak for him, it's almost scary.
He didn't want to ask. No, his heart wasn't ready. He thought that all his tears had dried up after crying so much but no, they hadn't. He was truly hurt, so much to the point, that his heart was tearing up physically with each passing second.
"Did you mean it?" He finally asked, gulping visibly.
Even though San had cried and had somewhat accepted that the younger boy didn't love him anymore, a part of him, the part that was overconfident about their love, believed that he was lying. Or that, he might've changed his mind by now.
He truly wanted to believe it.
Until Wooyoung nodded.
San believed that if he had shot or if his heart had pierced slowly and painfully while he was begging to stop it but just couldn't or if anything physically more painful thing had happened to his heart, everything would have been way less painful than this truth.
The truth is that Wooyoung just didn't love him anymore.
"So what do you want to do now?" San asked, his eyes glistening with tears but he held back for everyone's sake. Mostly his own.
"Let's break up." a visible gasp escaped Mingi's mouth, accidentally but no one paid any attention to it. The weight of those three words that left Wooyoung's mouth was way more than anyone had expected.
San was taken aback, he felt like his whole world had come to a close. He felt trapped as if the space around him was contracting and caging him into a dark place, his eyesight becoming blurry.
"Okay." A shaky breath that San barely managed to let out made everyone even more shocked, even Wooyoung.
This easily? Wooyoung thought to himself. He had no idea what was going on inside his now- officially- ex-boyfriend but a small part of him wanted San to protest his decision but he didn't.
But who Wooyoung was to judge?
San stood up, his vision becoming black but he still walked, managing his steps as if he could see everything. A tear slipped his eyes but only when he had locked himself in his shared room.
And he broke, again.
Tears cascaded down his cheeks like a gentle waterfall, each drop carrying the weight of his sorrow. San's shoulders quivered with each heaving breath, his body wracked by the tumult of emotions raging within.
His gaze now clouded with anguish, seeking solace in the empty room before him. A soft whimper escaped his lips, a fragile sound amidst the chaos of his breaking heart. With trembling hands, he reached out as if grasping for something, anything, to anchor him in this sea of despair. Each tear, was a testament to the depth of his pain, as he surrendered to the overwhelming tide of grief.
He was completely wretched. But he has to move on, no matter what.
Here Wooyoung was sitting in his bed, unlike his now ex-lover, no tear slipped from his eyes. There wasn't any remorse in his heart but rather an uneasy feeling he couldn't describe. He got what he wanted, the break-up but why? Why did he feel bitter when San agreed to his absurd decision?
For Wooyoung, San is one of the most loving people one could ever meet. He was selfless, caring, and devoted and adjusted to all Wooyoung's demands. From his whinings to his pampering, San handled everything so well.
Five years together and not one day did he regret saying yes to the boy who had proposed to him admitted chaos and without any intention. He was flustered at that time, no wonder.
He didn't understand why San loved him, he didn't deem himself worthy of such a stupid feeling but San proved him wrong every time. He made him feel so worthy that Wooyoung grew confident, he became sure of himself and wasn't scared to let out his other sides to the world.
He was clingy and kissed everyone without any shame, he was problematic and annoying but San never minded that. He cherished that side of Wooyoung, saying "It makes you unique and even more loving."
It reminded him of the time he had proposed the idea of getting matching tattoos. It was risky, he knew that. Wooyoung had tattoos so it wasn't a big deal for him but San didn't have any, he was afraid his idea might get rejected but San didn't even think twice about saying yes to him.
It had warmed his heart at that time, he remembers crying in San's arms as he was overwhelmed by how loving the older was. San's dad scolded both of them but he accepted sooner or later.
Wooyoung shakes his head at the memories tugs himself in the comfy cover and drifts to sleep, trying to calm his dreading mind and thumping heart.
And just like that, they both moved on from the night that changed everything for them.
