"So... How have you and Ellie been? Last time I heard about her, you two were hooking up,"
Sannie asks, swinging her legs as she and Lily stay seated on top of the monkey bars. Lily looks up at Sannie after she says that, a little shocked that Sannie brought up Ellie. "Oh... Ellie," Lily mumbles, looking down at her feet as she kicks her legs with Sannie. Lily and Ellie were complicated; one day they were eyeing each other up and in Ellie's bed by the time it was night, then the next Ellie was ignoring her and saying it was just because she was high. But deep down, Lily knew it wasn't just because Ellie was high; she knew they had something... She hoped they had something. "I don't know, Sannie. Feels like one second we're in love, then the next she's pushing me-" Before Lily could even finish her sentence, a loud scream is heard. When Sannie and Lily look towards the noise, there's a group of people running away screaming. "What in the fuck knuckles is this?" Lily asks, hopping down from the monkey bars to look at everyone. People are running, cars are speeding, hell so much is going on that Lily can't even comprehend it all. Sannie jumps down after Lily, clinging to Lily's shirt. "That doesn't seem good," Sannie says, seeing a car speeding and nearly running into people. "Fuck, you think our families are okay?" Sannie asks Lily, and at her words, Lily books it to her house.
✧༺♥༻∞Lily has to climb in backyards, past a few houses, over a few walls to get back home, but once she's home, the house seems empty. Lily doesn't utter a sound; she looks around the house before she walks into the living room, seeing her mom twitching on the floor next to her father. "Mom?" Lily asks, looking at her mom and dad. Despite them being her parents, she knows something is wrong. Lily grabs the machete hanging on the wall and holds it in front of her. She slowly inches closer to her parents. Her mother's head flies back to look at her, and Lily quickly realizes that that's no longer her mother. Her mother's eyes were pale, her skin fair, there's stuff crawling inside her skin, fungus wiggling and moving inside her mouth, and her hands bloody. Lily's father looks in no better condition, not the exact same, but with a bite on his neck, blood over his body, and he's unconscious. When Lily sees this, she nearly wants to give up, to sob and break, to gag and throw up, but she stays strong, nearly shocked when her mother comes rushing towards her. Lily doesn't know what to do, but pure instinct takes over, and she swings the machete at her own mother. Lily doesn't dare look, she doesn't dare see what she's done.
✧༺♥༻∞Suddenly it feels like she's blacked out, her mind refusing to let her be in that moment and set in what she had done. The next thing Lily remembers is looking at her bed in her room. Lily looks down at herself; she's covered in blood, whose blood she can take a guess at. The machete still in her hands as she looks into her mirror at herself.
"What have I done?... Mama... Mama, I'm so sorry, Mama..."
