Prisoner of Azkaban

Chapter Nine

We quickly get up the hill and look at Hagrid's garden. The executioner's axe falls and birds fly up. I gasp and Hermione starts to cry. Harry's attention goes somewhere else.

That kid has the attention span of a puppy. He walks down the hill and, for some reason, we follow. He stops as his pet rat starts being crazy. I turn to see a giant, black dog. Fear washes over me.

"H...H...Harry," I stutter. They look at it. The creature growls and starts running towards us. I duck and it jumps over my head. The creature grabs Ron's leg and pull him. I grab Ron's hands, and the creature drags both of us.

We're dragged down a tunnel, into an old, destroyed room. I try to stand up, but I fall. I look down and pull a rock out of my leg. I look up and see the dog transform into Sirius Black. I gulp really loud and move next to Ron. Harry and Hermione comes running in.

"It's a trap," I yell at them. Ron points at where the man is hiding and he leaves his hiding spot. Harry and Hermione pull out their wands and aim it at him. Lupin barges in and looks around.

"Sirius," he laughs. The two hug like their best friends who haven't seen each other in years. And that could be the case. "You had to injure two of my students?"

"I was trying to get..."

"I know."

"Why?" Hermione asks.

"You don't have to worry."

"No! I trusted you! And all this time, you've been his friend. He's a werewolf! That's why he's been missing classes."

Clearly the last one was for us. Lupin's gets paler than usual.

"How long have you known?"

"Since Professor Snape set the essay."

"Well, well, well, Hermione, you really are the brightest witch of your age I've ever met."

"I want to get this over with," Sirius shouts.

"Wait," Lupin snaps.

"I have waited. Twelve years in Azkaban."

Hermione steps in front of Harry to protect him.

"You won't hurt him," she snaps.

"I don't want him," the crazy man laughs. "I want Peter."

"He's dead."

"No he's not. He's in this room. Come out Peter. Come on out and play."

Lupin takes Ron's rat.

"Hey. Give him back."

"Peter was an Animagus. Can transform into a rat."

"But he's been in my family for..."

"Twelve years. Extremely long time for a common garden rat. And he's missing a finger."

"Let us test it," Lupin says. "It won't hurt him."

The two do a spell and the rest turns into a man. He has a rat like face and bright, blonde hair that is falling out. Everyone starts discussing what to do. We finally come up with turning him in to prove Sirius innocent.
