Fran lived with Danny for three weeks now and their relationship was extremely harmonious. Danny seemed really changed. He put much more effort now to schmooze Fran than in the paste. He often surprised her with small gifts and he showed much attention to her needs. In addition, Fran felt comfortable hanging around with her old friends from Queens, where she didn't have to be afraid to embarrass herself. Fran and Danny's wedding was the big gossip throughout the entire neighborhood and Silvia pranced around like the Queen Mum herself. Fran couldn't be happie

There was only one sore spot: the Sheffield kids. Fran missed them all very much. So much that it was hurting her. She had nightmares about the most horrible scenarios happening to them.
Although she saw the children on a regular basis.

She picked Gracie up from her therapy session every week, afterwards they went out to eat Chinese and visited the park.
Every Thursday she picked Maggie up from school, went shopping with her, ate ice cream and they talked about girl issues, boys and other things.
Friday it was Brighton's turn. She showed him Queens, the shop where you could buy the most amazing joke items and she also tried to help him with his homework so that he didn't have to do them on the weekend.

Fran enjoyed these meetings and until now she had never cancelled one. This didn’t suit Danny at all. He was upset because Fran left him alone in the shop for three afternoons to take care of these brats. The children were their only point of contention. Danny couldn't understand why she was so attached to these children. After all, this "nanny thing" had only been a job and it was over now. Fran, on the other side, tried always to make him see her point of view.
"Why couldn’t he understand her. It's impossible to take care of three children for almost a year without getting attached to them and loving them. Also she liked the feeling to be needed by the children. It gave her the appreciation, she was doing something useful.

More and more they started to argue about the kids. One afternoon Fran was sitting in a café with her best friend Val and poured her heart out.
"Danny and I...actually everything is splendid. Only the children are a dangerous topic. Danny demands with more and more force, I should limit the contact...but I cannot to this to them and I don’t want to give up my time with the children."
Val showed great compassion for Frans dilemma. She knew how much the children meant to her. Val had an idea, she suggested to her best friend.

"Maybe Danny just doesn't like the fact that there's a part of your life that he's excluded from. After all, he doesn't know the children. Try to do something together with Danny and the children. Once he gets to know them and he gets used with the children...maybe he will understand your point."
Fran glanced at her friend in amazement. That was really a good idea and worth a try.
