Matt led her through the mass of people. There were too many people in Wes's apartment, and it was a wonder that no one had called the police. Maybe they had bigger things to worry about. Dominic was nowhere in sight, but Matt noticed her eyes raking through the crowd to find him. Was he throwing up again? Knowing Dominic, he was likely wherever Wes was. The two had been inseparable since they'd met. They got each other. Matt used to be jealous of Dominic, he was Wes's best friend until Dom had moved there in the ninth grade. But, as time progressed, he noticed that the two had always made more sense together. Matt turned around again, making sure she was still behind him.

"Almost there, Mainey." His hand began to reach for hers so she wouldn't be lost, but he knew she wouldn't take it.

They quickly made their way to the kitchen; it wasn't a big apartment after all. It was just crowded. Her eyes, still looking for Dom, set on the bottles on the counter. "That's all I'll be needing from you." Her lips formed into a smug smile.

What a bitch. "You're not going to tell me your name?"

"I told you, I don't give my name out to-"

Dominic's hand was on her waist, "Matt." he said as a greeting. The two made eye contact and Matt pushed out a smile.

"You two know each other?" She pretended not to know.

"Yeah, Matt's one of my good friends." Dom smiled, seeming to miss how tense the situation must have been for his companion.

"Good friends, alright." Matt grinned in response. "I was just asking her name. Everyone hears all about this girl, but nobody ever talks to her."

"Maybe she prefers it that way." Dom shrugged.

"I can speak for myself." She scowled, filling up a plastic shot glass that someone must've brought. At least it was sanitary. "Matt and I smoked a cigarette; you didn't miss out on anything."

"I've been looking for you everywhere, where did you go?" Dom's hand was rubbing her spine. She knew it must've bothered him, to know she was outside, alone, with someone else.

"Outside. I told you." Her eyes were rolling again. How she could always look annoyed was beyond Dom, but he didn't seem to really mind. "The music is too loud. I'm going outside."

Dom's hand interlaced with hers, "The party just started."

"I'm tired."

Matt raised his hands in defense, "I think the music is too loud, too. I can follow you out."

She watched as the two locked eyes. Mindlessly, she took another shot. And then another.

                 "No."

    "No?" Matt's head tilted.

                "I'll go out with her."

"You don't want to go outside. What's Wes doing?"

It was a challenge. She didn't know what happened between the two, but she did not care to know, especially now that she'd drank too much. "It isn't that deep. Neither of you have to go outside. I just want to get away from this shitty rap music."

Dom winced, not knowing why. She didn't want him to follow her?

"I don't know why you're getting so possessive, Dominic. I thought you didn't do relationships."
