Ivan didn't know how much time has passed. The voices of the woods filled the air and the both of the boys were lying down on the wooden floor of the tree house, just staring up ahead at the roof, none speaking a word.
Julian had his backpack in place of a pillow as Ivan just lied there with his arm behind his head.
"Should I just move out and come live here?" Julian wondered out loud.
"Sounds like a great idea" Ivan snickered. "But someone's just too scared of snakes and spiders.
Julian made a scowl. "Who isn't?"
Ivan just looked himself up and down and Julian rolled his eyes. "Ivan, you don't count. You are literally a gorilla. Why should you be scared of freaking reptiles?"
"Heyy!" Ivan sounded hurt and Julian snickered.
"What evil took over me when I decided to be friends with you!"
"Succubus?" Julian grinned. "Who knows, might even be Incubus". Ivan pushed him on the head, faking a gag. "Go to sleep, Jerk"
"Ooh. That reminds me" Julian perked his head up. "How unfortunate is it that I didn't bring my plushie with me?"
Ivan raised a brow.
"I can't sleep without it" Julian said in cue of an explanation and Ivan rolled his eyes. "Don't ask me to go, get it for you or anything" he mumbled and averted his gaze to the roof.
"Nèh"
Ivan flinched when Julian scooted closer to him and threw his arms and leg over him, hugging him tight. "Just be my plushie for tonight" he grinned.
Eventually, Julian fell asleep and yet, Ivan couldn't get a wink of sleep. His eyes were wide open. Just one thought occupied the front of his mind.
Why was his heart racing?
