Growing up in the world of film had been a unique experience for me. Being the daughter of Louis Gauthier, a renowned director, meant that I had been surrounded by film sets and cameras for as long as I can remember. The passion for film run through my veins, and working as a production manager on my father's latest film has been a dream come true.
I've been studying and working on this since I was very little. Almost 5 years in the university studying cinematographic production. Then I could participate in some really cool projects that gave me more experience.
My father got this job in Los Angeles just a couple months ago, and gave me the oportunity to be in it. So I can say, I finally got a leading rol on a movie set at my current twenty nine years old.
The insistent sound of the alarm clock snapped me out of a restless sleep, marking the start of another hectic day on the film set. I woke up with determination, feeling the adrenaline coursing through my veins as I mentally prepared myself to face the demands of the day. As a production manager, I knew I had a long day ahead of me, full of responsibilities and challenges.
After a quick breakfast, I headed to the set, where the hustle and bustle of the crew was already in full swing. As I walked among the lights and cameras, I felt the comforting familiarity of the work environment, but also the tension that accompanied the production of a film. My mind was filled with checklists and details that I must coordinate to make sure everything went according to plan.
In the midst of the frantic activity, I saw my father, approaching me with a smile on his face. Next to him, a tall, good-looking man was looking at me curiously. I immediately recognized Pedro Pascal from the photos I had seen in the news and on social media.
"Catherine, honey!," my father exclaimed effusively, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I want you to meet Pedro Pascal, the new actor in the cast."
"A pleasure to meet you, Pedro," I said politely, extending my hand to greet him.
"The pleasure is mine, Catherine," Pedro replied with a warm smile. "Your father has told me so much about you and your amazing work on set. It's an honor to work with you."
I tried to hide my surprise at his words, keeping my expression professional. "Thank you, but we are a team here. We all work hard to make the film a success."
My father nodded approvingly. "Cath is a really important key in all of this. Without her, we'd be lost," he said proudly.
I tried to hide my discomfort at my father's praise and quickly changed the subject. "Well, we have a lot of work ahead of us today. If you'll excuse me..."
Pedro nodded sympathetically. "Of course, we don't want to delay your work. But I hope we can meet later and chat some more."
His words surprised me, but I nodded politely. "Of course, I'll be around if you need anything."
I'm not in the mood for meeting new people right now, I'm really focused in this project, as it's the very first oportunity that my dad gives me to experience all of this just by my self, leading such an important rol.
Throughout the day, Pedro and I crossed paths several times on set as we worked on different scenes. Although he tried to make conversation, I kept my distance and focused on my responsibilities. However, I couldn't help but be intrigued by him. His comments showed a genuine interest in getting to know me, and his eyes sparkled with curiosity every time our paths crossed.
When the day's shooting finally came to an end and the set emptied, Pedro approached me with a friendly smile. "How was your day, Catherine?"
I looked at him in surprise, not expecting his attention. "It's been intense, but everything went as planned. Thanks for asking, Pedro."
Pedro nodded, with a look of sincere respect in his eyes. "Your dad and I are going to get some beers, I was wondering if you would want to come."
Although his praise touched me, I maintained my professionalism. "It would be my pleasure, Pedro. But now I must take care of some tasks before I leave."
We politely said our goodbyes and I left the set, feeling a mix of emotions as I reflected on the day. Although Pedro had shown a genuine interest in getting to know me, I knew that my priority was still my work. However, a small part of me wondered about him, wanting to know more about his life.
To be continued...
