[PEDRO'S POV]
The afternoon sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the bustling film set as the day's intense shooting schedule finally drew to a close. I felt a mixture of relief and lingering tension as I wrapped up my scenes, my mind already anticipating the inevitable clash with Catherine.
Leaving the set, after saying goodbye to the crew, I meet Lily on my way to my car. "Lily!".
"Hi Pedro." She replies with her usual smile.
"How is it going with your boyfriend? Did you guys talk?," I ask continuing the conversation from the other day, which Catherine interrupted.
She nods her head. "You were right, it was a matter of talking, it was all a misunderstanding."
"I'm glad." We get to my car. "You know if you need anything here's your counselor." I joke.
We hear a throat clearing behind us. "I don't mean to interrupt, this is my car," Catherine says pointing to the vehicle next to mine.
"I'm leaving I have plans," Lily winks at me knowing her boyfriend is waiting for her at home, and I just laugh. "See you guys tomorrow."
Once she left, as I was going to get in my car, I felt Catherine's gaze on me. "We talked about boundaries, remember? I'd appreciate it if you refrained from engaging in personal conversations with my team members.". Her tone was curt, her words laced with controlled anger.
I felt a surge of frustration and spoke louder than intended, my words edged with exasperation. "Catherine, you can't control everything."
Her sharp rebuttal cut through the air, hitting me harder than I expected. "This is work, Pedro. And your constant need for playful banter is crossing lines."
My frustration peaked, my voice taking on a defensive tone. "Stop being a control freak, you can't control life like your work schedules. There is life outside of work, although it's hard for you to know as you seem to have no life."
The moment the words left my mouth, I regretted them. I saw the hurt flash in Catherine's eyes, a raw emotion I hadn't intended to provoke. But before I could retract or apologize, she got into her car and closed the door, turning the engine on and leaving in a matter of seconds.
Watching her leave, I ran a hand through my hair in frustration, the weight of my words sinking in. I hadn't considered the deeper struggles Catherine might be facing, too consumed by our verbal sparring and teasing games. Guilt gnawed at me as I stood alone in the now eerily quiet parking lot, the fading sunlight casting a somber hue over the buildings.
It was a sobering realization, one that made me question my own actions and the impact they had on those around me.
As I headed got inside my own car, the joviality of earlier moments replaced by a heavy sense of introspection, I knew that repairing the rift with Catherine would require more than just playful banter or easy charm.
It's been a very tense few days between us, and I've only made it worse. I've taken it lightly, and I've overstepped my boundaries.
The frustration of the moment got in the way.
I'm really interested in her, and the fact that she's been so rude to me has only attracted me to her more. My heart and my head got mixed up today, making a mistake.
To be continued...
