Chapter 38 Nightmare

I slowly open my eyes to an empty and cold cave I slowly sit up to an uneasy feeling I look around the empty cave to see pools of blood and I look around and see blood streaks leading out of the cave

I walk out of the cave with orange light illuminating on my face I look around in horror as everything is on fire I notice a body on the ground

I quickly run over to it and flip it over I notice a torn wing and a huge hole in her chest Raynare....

I close her eyes and continue deeper until I stumble upon another body I notice the blond hair which is now dyed red from the blood

Asia...

I hear screaming in the distance and continue to run towards it I see trees on fire toppled ground cracked and ashed covered

I arrive to the noise and notice a familiar person Kuroka...

I try to get closer but I am unable to I notice a monster grab her by the throat it looks at me and smiles

"We will meet in the future..."

It runs its hand through Kuroka

"NO!"

I yell out as everything fades

No! I awaken jolting upwards in fright

Making everyone around me jump in surprise

"What's wrong?!" A familiar voice asks me

I look towards the voice

Oh thank god I say as I hug Kuroka

"I don't mind hugs but what is this for?"

"I thought you and everyone else was killed..." I say while they notice the difference in my voice

"I woke up to blood and flames everywhere Raynare Asia and you were killed by something it said we were going to meet in the future"

"Calm down Y/N it sounds like you just had a nightmare" Kuroka tells me as she holds me closer

My body is shaking and I am unable to control it I cannot imagine what would happen to me here if I was alone without anyone

She then lets me go

"That just means we need to get stronger" she says

"I got a main quest we need to take over the lake find a stable source of food and strengthen the cave"

"We will need to split up so us three will go and find the issue for food do you think you'll be able to handle the pond?" Kuroka says

"I'm not sure there were a lot of them they may not hit hard but their quick and there's a lot of them"

"I'll strengthen the cave before I head to the lake it could use it"

"Alright we'll head out now stay safe" Kuroka says

They walk out of the cave and I sit to myself for a few minutes

*They'll be fine Kuroka is as strong as me if not stronger*

I look in the corner of the cave and notice a pickaxe

"When was that there? That wasn't there before"

"Is the system influencing this world?"

I walk over to the pickaxe and pick it up

What should I do we need a escape tunnel and more rooms think everyone's sick of laying on the ground as well

I walk over to one of the walls and start to chip out a doorframe and stabilize it with logs

I continue to chip away at the wall to make a small looking hallway I continue making the hallway longer and stabilizing the structure

I continue digging until sunlight breaches and shines in my eyes

[Congratulations a escape tunnel has been made]

I then notice the tunnel changing and the walls fortifying itself

The hallway of the tunnel finish changing and I notice it looks modern with doors I open the door and notice it's hidden from the outside

I walk back inside and walk back to the main area of the cave

I start to chip away a entrance for a doorframe for a room

After a little bit the space for a small room is done I notice the room light up and I see a bed and a wardrobe appear

[Congratulation bedroom completed]

I can feel myself growing tired from all the mining of the walls I notice the light is disappearing I look outside to see the sun setting

I then hear the door open and see everyone walk back Inside

I walk into the main part of the cave

They look at me and notice that I'm drenched in sweat

"It seems you have been busy while we were gone" Raynare says

"Yeah making a escape tunnel and a room by hand seemingly tires you..." I say

I use heat manipulation and dry my wet clothes I take off the spare clothes that I had and put the now dry ones on

"Well I'm going to see what I can do with the lake" I say while going out the door

"Let us come with you" Asia says

"It's going to be dangerous" I reply back

"I'm prepared for that" Kuroka says

We walk out and walk deeper into the forest

I feel a slight breeze and quickly summon sword of the cosmos and block upwards stopping a axe coming for my head

The Minotaur lets out a disappointed grunt

I quickly push the blade upwards and slice downwards giving it a deep cut wound in the stomach

I jump back as Kuroka blasts it engulfing it in flames killing it

After learning their attack patterns it's gotten easier to battle the Minotaurs

We continue on towards the lake, once we arrived I noticed the plants grass and trees around it has turned into a blackish color

"Did the trees die?" I asked myself out loud

"I don't believe so... I think something has sucked the energy out of the environment" Kuroka says

"Normally I would be able to sense the nature energy but it seems like it was all drained"

I look towards the water and notice that there is a color of purple ish black in it I notice Asia about to touch the water.

"Dont touch the water!" I quickly yell as I grab her hand

"How come?" She asks me

"There is a faint purple ish black color that is mixed  in the water i am unsure on what it is"

Kuroka walks over to a normal colored branch and dips the tip into the water and it starts to drain it and turn the color black she quickly lets go of the branch.
