The Nublar 8

Camp Cretaceous

Emma's POV 

I walked up to Hiro's bedroom to see if he could help me find my headphones, because after scrambling through the house they were nowhere to be found.

"Hey babe?" I said knocking on the door, "yeah? Have you seen my headphones? I asked walking into his room "Yep they should be under my bed." "Thanks I said about to leave, "Emma!" "What?" I replied "I-I got an email back!"

Hiro had entered a contest, the goal was to find a way to help a better security for Jurassic World, the prize was a trip to the park's new camp.

"Well go on read it!" I said anxiously "And remember, if you won you've won, and if you don't, you're 14, don't to be hard on yourself!" I said continuing to panic.

"Dear Mr Hamada, We are glad to inform you that we are impressed with your work, and we will most certainly be adapting it to our security, because of this we are allowing you to bring a plus one to the camp!" He said reading out the first half of the email before he jumped up and hugged me "We're going to Camp Cretaceous!"

~Time skip to after the ferry~

"Welcome to Isla Nubar, campers." The man with blonde hair and a counselor shirt on said "You are the chosen few, the first kids in the entire world to ever experience the awesomeness that is Camp Cretaceous.  I know, the trip from the mainland was rough on some." He said as he walked in front of everyone"Hello, Ben" he said as the kid was on the edge of the dock, he gave him a thumbs up before he threw up again, poor kid.

"But you made it!" He said "I'm Dave, head counselor. You heard that correctly- - head honcho, big shot." He said as a jeep pulled up behind us we all turned to look. A lady with brown hair and eyes stepped out of the jeep and said "Ah, so sorry I'm late." She had an accent I couldn't place, maybe British/English mixed with something else?  (I really don't know 🤣)

"Welcome campers!" She said as she walked over to us "I'm Roxie, head counselor of Camp Cretaceous." She said as she stood next to Dave. We all looked at Dave expecting him to say something. He laughed nervously and said "Well, it's sort of a co-head counselor sort of situation." Dave said "Is it?" Roxie said, Dave cleared his throat.

"Anyway, some of you won contests to be here," Brooklyn who I recognized from social media was moving her camera to record everyone, Dave continued "some of you had VIP invites, but for the next two weeks,all of you will be getting the 5-star treatment!"Roxie then continued the speech "As our first campers, we've lined up exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of Jurassic World."

Everyone was excited with oohs and yeses (yess? What's plural for yes?) "As well as kayaking, rock climbing, obstacle courses, and of course..." Roxie started "Dinosaurs?!" A kid next to Hiro finished,a little too excited getting looks from everyone. "Yes...Darius, plenty of dinosaurs." She paused to check his name. "So, ready for adventure?" She then asked us all.

"Absolutely!" Brooklynn said "But I'm gonna need that speech a little shorter, and really try to lean into the majesty of this place." I looked at Hiro and we both rolled our eyes, although I thought Brooklyn was cool, I was disappointed she was one of "those" influencers.

Dave and Roxie had blank looks on their faces from what she said.  Dave chuckled before saying "Okay, we're going now." Finally! This was gonna be awesome! "Let's get the 8 of you to camp. He said gesturing to get us moving.

"Uh, there are 7 of us." Ben said raising his hand slightly. Dave then went "Wait,Dino-kid, Track-Star, Internet Girl, Barfy, Texas, Genius, Genius's Girlfriend. He's right. Where's 8?" He when listing us all off.

Roxie checked her clipboard then scoffed/groaned. We then heard the sound of a helicopter  after it landed a boy with a pink shirt and shorts stepped out, Roxie gestured to Dave where "8" was.  He then stepped out and said "Greetings, my dudes. Kenji is here, so let the party commence!
