Baby feathers

Baby vaggie and wing maintenance lucifer and Carmilla bonding over it.

4 year old Vaggie was sitting in the living room floor trying to watch swan lake but her itchy feathers made it difficult to enjoy her program.

"Hey miss carmilla has Vaggie, ....has she ever preened her feathers yet?" Lucifer sips from his tea after asking, trying not to come out as too judgmental.

Carmilla sets her cup down and merely looks at him in confusion. "I completely forgot about that...doesn't Lilith help you with that?"

"Yes it's a personal matter, only the the most trusted can touch an angel's wings." Lucifer whispered that last part so Vaggie didn't hear him.

"Is it difficult?"

"I can easily show you, you just need to be careful." Lucifer stretch out his six wings comfortably before summoning a bottle of oil.

Picking up the baby angel and placing her across Carmilla's lap, Lucifer helped Carmilla get to work, working from the lowest layer of vaggie's feathers and making there way up her wings slowly. Rustling away dirt that had gotten stuck in the crevices. Plucking dead feathers that were ready to fall.

Carmilla plucked another dead feather.

"Mama What is a 'preen'?" Vaggie asked, water welling in her eyes.

"I'm sorry baby, It's how some people keep their wings in shape, fixing up out of place feathers and picking out broken ones." Carmilla slowly removed another dead feather.

Vaggie winced, but squeeze her mama's hand. "Even if you're a baby, you've gotta take care of yourself and one day you'll do this on your own."

"But mommy! it huuuurts."

"Well, the good news is that those were all the old ones." Carmilla softly spoke.

Vaggie did her best to keep still her wings were surprisingly sensitive, but Lucifer was careful. He rubbed some oil and gave her wings the same care and attention.

"There we go baby, all clean and shiny" Carmilla said happily.

"Mmm." Vaggie mumbled, was soothed to sleep
